8th INTERNATIONAL HALF FESTIVAL 2018
(Haiku Amateur Little Film Festival)
HALF Festival stands for Haiku Amateur Little Film Festival. ‘Haiku’ is a very short form of Japanese poetry, here used to mean any short form of aesthetic creativity. ‘Amateur’ here denotes a creation by a creator whose chief intention in the creation is not financial gain. ‘Little’ here stands for shortness of duration of the film. ‘HALF’ denotes also the stipulated duration of the film which is 5 minutes or ‘half’ the time of a traditional film reel which is 10 minutes. Insight, which is organizing this festival, is a group of creative artists, with base at Palakkad, who believe in the infinite potential of the short film as a medium of communication and aesthetic creativity.

PRIZE STRUCTURE

Golden Screen Award: Rs. 50, 000/- in cash + Trophy + Certificate
5 Runner up Awards : Rs. 5,000/- in cash + Certificate to each

GUIDELINES FOR SENDING IN ENTRIES

1. The digital file should be at 1920 x 1080 resolution (shorthand 1080p) 48 kHz 24-bit audio, 25 fps. (Actual resolution for projection) (2 DVDs),
2. Properly filled up entry form with synopsis,
3. Photo and Bio-data of director,
4. Posters and Film Stills

Soft copies of the above may either be sent by ON LINE via Dropbox/ WeTransfer / Sendspace/ etc to contact@palakkadinsight.com or CDs containing the above documents by post to:

Entry fee (Rs. 1000/- for entries from India and $ 20/- from other countries) may be

1. Transfer credited to INSIGHT the creative group, Current A/c Number: 34233290588 (IFSC Code : SBIN0000893 / MICR Code : SBIN0000893 / Branch Code : 893) English Church Raod, Palakkad Branch of STATE BANK OF INDIA
2. Sent by Crossed DD (drawn in the name of INSIGHT payable at Palakkad) sent to the postal address of C.K. Ramakrishnan above along with entry form and other documents. or
3. Sent through Paypal (palakkadinsight@gmail.com). Cheques will not be accepted.

All the above are to be received by Insight on or before 5 pm on 30th June, 2018. Those lacking any of the requirements specified above will be excluded from the shortlisted entries submitted to the Jury and from screening during the festival.

REGULATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Individuals are free to submit any number of entries but each entry must come with separate entry form and entry fee. However the following categories of films are not accepted for contest:
1. Animation 2. Documentary 3.Music Album

For entries from outside India, an invoice showing ‘No value (for cultural purpose only)’ should be included.

There is no language bar, but for films other than in English and Malayalam, either English subtitles or a CD containing the translation of the voice portions may be included.

Each entry must be the original work of the entrant and shall not infringe on any copyright or any other right of any other individual, institution or organization. It is the responsibility of the entrant to obtain all necessary agreements and permissions regarding all contents like actors, story, music, sound or images well in advance.

Each entrant agrees that the Organizers will not be held liable for any copyright infringements perpetrated by him/her or his/her short films.

The Organizers reserve the right not to screen any film(s) for any reason they deem valid and their decision shall be final.

The organizers are not responsible for late, lost, damaged, misdirected, postage due, stolen, or misappropriated entries.

The Jury will consist of eminent personalities from the film field. There will be open forum discussions after screening each film.

‘HALF’denotes 5 minutes or half of a traditional reel-length, the maximum duration of an entry.
‘Haiku’ means a very short aesthetic creation. ‘Amateur’ is any creation not done for money alone or primarily for money.
‘Little’ stands for shortness of the film and thematic terseness.
