Cine Pobre is a self-funded filmmaking genre without a set of stylistic criteria nor format boundaries, involving many geographically separated creators with at least two things in common: a strong desire to tell their story: with their own resources and without establishment constraints.

Cine Pobre builds bridges based on the belief that film becomes art when its materials are as inexpensive as pencil and paper.

After 25 years of showcasing and celebrating The World's Best Self Funded Films, at Cine Pobre Film Festival we have discontinued our public screenings and henceforth operate in an invitation only private space while preserving the Cine Pobre spirit, essence and prestige.

The discontinuation of our public venues makes it easier and much less costly to manage.

This means significantly lower inscription fees. No airplane tickets, no hotel bills, no liver cirrhosis from afterparties; just an evolved value proposition, while continuing to deliver the timeless professional prestige and to be lauded and formally recognized among the World's Best Self Funded Filmmakers.

In August 2024 XXII Cine Pobre Film Festival inaugurated its own humble movie theater in the Oaxaca cloud forest at 2,400 m a.s.l. This small special events playhouse allows us to focus more on motivating our target audiences to develop their creative talents as mentor of future filmmakers.

El Cine Pobre es un género cinematográfico autofinanciado sin un conjunto de criterios estilísticos ni límites de formato, que involucra a creadores geográficamente distantes con al menos dos cosas en común: un gran deseo de contar su historia con sus propios recursos y sin las restricciones del sistema establecido. Cine Pobre tiende puentes basándose en la convicción de que el cine se convierte en arte cuando sus materiales son tan económicos como el lápiz y el papel.

POR FAVOR, LEA: Después de 25 años exhibiendo y celebrando las mejores películas autofinanciadas del mundo, en el Cine Pobre Film Festival hemos suspendido nuestras proyecciones públicas y, de ahora en adelante, operamos en un espacio privado al que se accede únicamente por invitación, conservando el espíritu, la esencia y el prestigio de Cine Pobre. La suspensión de nuestras sedes públicas facilita la gestión y resulta mucho menos costosa. Esto supone tarifas de inscripción significativamente más bajas. Sin billetes de avión, sin facturas de hotel, sin cirrosis hepática por las fiestas posteriores; simplemente una propuesta de valor evolucionada, al tiempo que seguimos ofreciendo un prestigio profesional atemporal y el reconocimiento formal entre los mejores cineastas autofinanciados del mundo.

En agosto de 2024, la XXII edición del Cine Pobre Film Festival inauguró su propia y humilde sala de cine en el bosque nublado de Oaxaca, a 2400 m s. n. m. Este pequeño espacio para eventos especiales nos permite centrarnos más en motivar a nuestro público objetivo a desarrollar sus talentos creativos como mentores de los futuros cineastas.

Cine Pobre is a collaborative private venue and not a contest where filmmakers receive trinkets.

We invite filmmakers to produce self-funded films telling stories we bet on becoming resonant cultural contributions instead of focusing on orotund social components.

Cine Pobre is the 100% self-funded intersection of culture and capabilities.

We DO NO LONGER offer discounts nor waivers unless you currently reside in a war-torn country or region. Mexico is not at war with your country. If you do not have access to the Festhome payment system, please explain your circumstance and propose a barter, for example, translate our Cine Pobre film festival poster into your language, a digital media contribution, social media promotion in your country, etc. Sorry, if your request does not include a creative barter proposal it might not be answered.

IF YOUR FILM'S BUDGET IS OVER 50% CROWD, STATE, CITY, GRANT
CULTURAL OR FILM FUND SUPPORTED, please indicate the total production budget and the self funded percentage of budget and its other source.
