1st Guará Film Festival / Shorts - Guaramirim, SC
The 1st Guará Film Festival / Shorts is an independent audiovisual festival held in Guaramirim, Santa Catarina, from November 30 to December 2, 2024, at the Espaço Cultural Alternativo (ECA) - annex Teatro de Bolso.
The festival aims to promote the dissemination of national cinema, amplifying voices and providing visibility for Brazilian short films and audiovisual professionals who urgently need to be seen and heard. Committed to the promotion and diffusion of Brazilian cinema, the festival seeks to provide the population of Guaramirim, especially the peripheral communities, with access to high-quality cultural productions that typically do not reach the region.
This non-competitive showcase is open to short films of up to 30 minutes, produced from January 2020 onwards, with no restrictions on genre or theme. Both professional and amateur filmmakers are welcome to participate, as long as they are over 18 years old.
Screenings will be free and open to the public, strengthening the audiovisual production chain and valuing the work of producers, screenwriters, directors, and other audiovisual professionals. Registrations will be open from October 15 to November 15, 2024.

REGULATIONS OF THE 1st GUARÁ FILM FESTIVAL / SHORTS
1. General Provisions
The 1st Guará Film Festival / Shorts is an independent audiovisual festival that will take place in Guaramirim, Santa Catarina, at the Espaço Cultural Alternativo (ECA) - annex Teatro de Bolso, from November 30 to December 2, 2024. The festival aims to promote and spread the production of Brazilian short films, amplifying voices and providing visibility to themes and groups that need to be seen and heard. The event is open to audiovisual professionals and amateurs, with the goal of providing cultural access to the local population and supporting the audiovisual production chain.
2. Festival Objectives
Promotion and Dissemination: Promote the exhibition of Brazilian short films, valuing diversity and contributing to the dissemination of national audiovisual works.
Expansion of Cultural Access: Provide the population of Guaramirim, especially those in peripheral communities, the opportunity to access cultural productions that are not normally available in the region.
3. Conditions for Participation
3.1. Eligibility: Filmmakers of short films, both professionals and amateurs, who are over 18 years old, regardless of nationality, may apply.
3.2. duration and Year of Production:
Short films with a duration of up to 30 minutes, produced from January 2020 onwards, will be accepted.
3.3. Theme and Genre: There are no restrictions regarding the genre or theme of the films submitted. Fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, and other genres are welcome.
3.4. language: Films not spoken in Portuguese must have Portuguese subtitles.
4. Applications
4.1. Application Period: Applications will be open from October 15 to November 15, 2024.
4.2. Application Process:
Applications must be submitted via the online form available on the festival's official website (insert official link).
The form must be correctly filled out, including a link to view the short film (Vimeo, YouTube, or Google Drive, with password if necessary, and download enabled).
4.3. Number of Entries per Participant: Each participant may submit up to 3 short films.
4.4. Required Documentation:
Completed application form.
Copy of identification document of the person responsible for the application.
Exhibition rights assignment form, as specified in Clause 6.
5. Selection and Exhibition Process
5.1. Curatorship: The selection of short films will be carried out by a specialized curatorship experienced in this type of festival.
5.2. Selection Criteria:
The curatorship will seek to select films that amplify voices and promote urgent visibility, respecting the diversity of themes and groups.
Evaluation criteria include originality, social relevance, and technical and artistic quality.
5.3. Notification of Selected Films: The list of selected films will be announced by [date] on the official website (insert official link) and on the festival's social media.
5.4. Exhibition:
Selected films will be exhibited in a non-competitive format at the Espaço Cultural Alternativo (ECA) - annex Teatro de Bolso, from November 30 to December 2, 2024.
Screenings will be free and open to the public.
6. Exhibition Rights
6.1. Assignment of Rights: Those responsible for the selected films must sign a rights assignment form, authorizing the exhibition during the festival and its maintenance in the festival's collection for future closed screenings.
6.2. Use of Promotional Materials: The festival organization reserves the right to use images, clips, and other materials from the films for promotional purposes across any media, without any cost to the filmmakers.
7. Conditions for Cancellation and Changes
7.1. Postponement or Cancellation: The festival may be postponed if necessary, and this decision is at the discretion of the organization. In case of date changes, participants will be notified through the contact information provided during registration.
7.2. Changes to the Regulations: The festival organization reserves the right to make changes to these regulations, as long as they do not adversely affect the registered participants. Any changes will be announced on the festival's official channels.
8. Communication and Promotion
8.1. Promotion Campaign: The festival will be promoted through the festival's social media channels (Facebook and Instagram), local newspapers, partnerships with the Department of Education for promotion in municipal schools, and on festival hosting platforms.
8.2. Artist Promotion: Selected artists will have their work promoted on the festival's social media and other communication channels, enhancing their visibility with the local audience.
9. Final Provisions
9.1. Responsibility for Copyright: By submitting their film to the festival, the responsible person declares they hold the necessary rights for public exhibition, assuming full responsibility for any legal issues. Participants must ensure they hold all exhibition rights for the films submitted.
