The Baixada Film Festival is more than a festival – it is a territory of cinema that turns the city of Pinheiro, Maranhão (Brazil) into a stage for the seventh art. The festival promotes access to audiovisual culture, strengthens local productions, and connects the Baixada region with national and international cinema.

Its 2nd edition will take place from November 19 to 21, 2025, featuring competitive screenings of short films, medium-length films, and music videos, as well as parallel screenings dedicated to films from Brazil, Argentina, Portugal, Africa, and Maranhão. The program also includes workshops, online training, and screenings in public schools and communities, fostering education and audience engagement.

The Baixada Film Festival will award the winners with official festival trophies in the following competitive categories, selected by the Official Jury:

- Best Short Film
- Best Medium-Length Film
- Best Music Video
- Best Director
- Best Editing
- Best Screenplay
- Best Actor
- Best Actress
- Best Supporting Actor
- Best Supporting Actress

The jury may also grant Honorable Mentions, and an Audience Award will be presented based on popular vote.

We accept short films (up to 15 minutes), medium-length films (16 to 60 minutes), and music videos.

Films of any genre or theme are welcome, completed from January 1st, 2023.

Works in any language are accepted, provided they have Portuguese or English subtitles.

No entry fee is charged, and submissions must be made exclusively through Festhome.

Each filmmaker may submit more than one work.
