Oaxaca Sports Film Festival 2027 - Where Film and Sports Inspire the World

Welcome to the Oaxaca Sports Film Festival 2027, an international event dedicated to celebrating the power of film to tell the stories that arise from sports.

Based in the city of Oaxaca, Mexico, our festival brings together filmmakers, athletes, producers, and lovers of cinema to screen works that explore the discipline, passion, resilience, and social impact of sports on the lives of individuals and communities.

We believe that sports are much more than just competition: they are a tool for transformation, inclusion, identity, and hope. That is why we seek films that inspire, move, and provoke reflection—ranging from widely recognized disciplines such as soccer, boxing, and track and field to emerging and extreme sports, as well as traditional sporting expressions from different cultures.

Our goal is to provide a platform for emerging and established filmmakers from around the world, promoting stories that connect with diverse audiences through the universal language of sports.

Whether your film explores personal growth, teamwork, inclusion, high performance, health, or the challenges athletes face both on and off the field, the 2027 Oaxaca Sports Film Festival is the place to share it.

- Official Categories -

* Feature Film

Fiction, documentary, or animated films with a sports theme.

* Short Film

Short-form fiction, documentary, or animated works related to sports.

* Experimental Film and New Narratives

Audiovisual projects that explore sports through innovative approaches, experimental styles, or unconventional formats.

* Diversity and Inclusion in Sports

Works that promote equality, inclusion, and diversity within the sports world, including stories from the LGBT+ community, people with disabilities, and other historically underrepresented groups.

- Submission Rules -

* Films must address sports as their main theme or develop a story closely related to the sports world.

* Productions from any country are accepted.

* Fiction, documentary, animated, or experimental films may be submitted.

* Films not in Spanish or English must include subtitles in one of these two languages.

* Submission of a film does not guarantee its official selection.

* All entries will be evaluated by a selection committee based on criteria of cinematic quality, narrative, originality, and thematic relevance.

- Rules and Terms -

* Priority is given to films premiering in Latin America.

* Your film must have been made after 2022.

* We do accept works in progress, as long as the final film is completed by the festival date.

* Spanish subtitles are required for all selected films.

* Please have the trailer, poster, flyers, and any promotional materials ready to send to the festival so we can promote your film.

* We do NOT offer fee waivers.

* We do NOT cover shipping costs.

* All materials will be destroyed unless you specifically request that we NOT do so at the time of delivery.
