We want to organize this FOURTH EDITION, a call for short and long films, where THE MEMORY are the main theme in the selected works.

Best Foreign Feature Film.

1 - The Barracas Film Festival.

FCB 2026 aims to educate, inspire and motivate audiences. Through a selection of feature films and short films on the theme THE MEMORY, creating a space for reflection and debate on the problems of our time.

A committee will select the films that will be part of the competitive and non-competitive sections of the festival and a renowned jury will award the most outstanding ones. Registration to the festival is free and open to Argentine Films.

Films that do not refer to the theme YOUTH AND WORK will be excluded from the festival, without appeal.

2 - Registration and selection.

Films can be registered in the following ways:

a) Through the FESTHOME online platform.

b) Using the registration form on the festival website -DRIVE

Films completed after January 1, 2022 may participate. Documentary, fiction or animation, experimental, and vertical format films will be accepted.

The decision of the selection committee will be final. The selection of the films will be announced during the month of August.

The call will remain open from March 1 to May 21, 2026 and the communication of the selected films will be on August 1, 2026.

Registration through different platforms will be for the pre-selection stage. Once the call is finished, the organization will contact the selected films, who must send:

- Film in format for the screening.
- Trailer of the film (if available).
- 3 illustrative photographs (300 dpi, jpg / tiff) for free use by the festival.

- Technical information and Filmography of the director.

All material must be received before August 30th, otherwise participation in the festival cannot be guaranteed. Once a film has been programmed, it cannot be withdrawn from the Festival.

3 - Material

The registered films must be their final version; projects in Work In Progress will not be accepted. If the original language is not Spanish, it must be subtitled in Spanish. If not, contact the Festival organization. The subtitles must be included in the video file. Otherwise, it will not be selected.

4 - Copyright

The person responsible for registering the work authorizes the Barracas Film Festival 2026 to exhibit it during the period corresponding to the celebration of the festival, prior and subsequent events.

Authorization is granted to use up to two minutes of the work to promote the festival in the media that the organizers consider.

The persons responsible for signing the registration form must possess the copyright of the work, or the corresponding authorization. It also exempts the organizers of the FESTIVAL from any legal responsibility, declaring that they are the only ones responsible for any type of claim or demand concerning the material presented.

5 - Sections

The Festival includes five Official Competitive Sections, namely:

- Official Selection of Feature Films (National and International) Minimum duration: 40 minutes.
In this section the awards for “Best National Film” and “Best International Film” will be given.

- Official Competition of Short Films (National and International) Maximum duration: 39 minutes.
In this section the awards for “Best National Short Film” and “Best International Short Film” will be given.

- Argentine Competition for Secondary School Students. Maximum duration: 25 minutes.

In this section the award for “Best Student Short Film” will be given.

A NON-Competitive section is included, namely:

- INVITED Argentine Films Section, Premiered Feature Films and Short Films, of any length. With the presence of Director and Actors of the projects. Traveling Showcase.

The Official Competition Jury will be composed of a minimum of 3 professionals outside the Festival organization. Those people who have interests in the production and/or exploitation of the films presented in Competition may not be part of the Jury. They may also award Special Mentions if they consider it pertinent.

During the selection of works for FCB 2026 we will incorporate the gender perspective in each and every one of our actions.

On this occasion we invite you to send your material in competition that highlights the approach that we have been proposing, Youth and Women's Work. All materials will be evaluated with a higher score when directed, produced or edited by a team mostly composed of women. The narration of stories starring women will also be valued to be highlighted with a special award/recognition offered by our allies.
