The Huesca International Film Festival (HIFF) announces the second edition of Work in Progress HIFF, a platform designed to promote, showcase, and support Ibero-American short films in the advanced stages of post-production.

The call aims to provide creative and industry support to projects that are currently in the editing or finalization phase, facilitating their completion and subsequent circulation in festivals.

The submission deadline is March 19, 2026 at 11:59 PM.

The following awards will be granted to the winning short film:

FESTHOME Award

Granted by the submission platform Festhome, the award consists of distribution support for the short film for one year, including submission fees for festivals integrated within the platform.

Award Conditions:

The winning project must include the FESTHOME logo in the opening credits and in its promotional materials.

The winning team must coordinate with the platform on the planning and execution of its distribution strategy.

The award will become effective once post-production is completed and festival distribution begins.

The award must be used before December 31, 2027.

The award does not include direct cash payments from FESTHOME to the winning project.

CHEMISTRY Award

Granted by the Mexican post-production company CHEMISTRY, which will participate as a co-producer of the project. The award consists of image post-production services and the creation of final deliverables.

HUESCA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL – WIP HIFF 2026

DESCRIPTION

The Huesca International Film Festival (HIFF) launches the second edition of Work in Progress HIFF, a platform for promotion, visibility, and professional support aimed at Ibero-American short films in the advanced stages of post-production.

The call seeks to provide creative and industry support to projects that are in the editing or finalization phase, facilitating their completion and subsequent festival circulation.

The submission deadline is March 19, 2026 at 11:59 PM.

1. ELIGIBILITY

Productions from Ibero-American countries may apply with fiction, documentary, or animation short films that meet the following requirements:

Minimum length of 5 minutes and maximum of 20 minutes.

Must be in an advanced stage of post-production (first or second cut).

Must not have been commercially released, screened at festivals, or qualified before June 13, 2026.

Must not have been submitted to this call the previous year.

Only one submission per project will be accepted, with no limit on the number of projects per person or production company.

Any production found to have been released or qualified before June 13, 2026 will be automatically disqualified.

2. REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

Registration is free and must be completed through the official form available on Festhome and on the HIFF website:

Applications must include the following materials:

Project technical sheet.

Access link to the rough cut or first/second cut (minimum resolution 1080p), or working copy in Spanish or with Spanish subtitles. Only password-protected links on online platforms (Vimeo or similar) will be accepted. Public links will not be accepted.

Logline and long synopsis (maximum 600 characters).

Brief biography of the director and producer (maximum 100 words each).

PDF dossier (maximum 5 pages) including:

Current status of the project

Completion, distribution, and exhibition strategy

Post-production timeline and budget

Two high-quality stills (300 dpi).

Letter of motivation (maximum one page).

The documents indicated in points 5 and 7 must be uploaded under the “Documents” tab of the project on Festhome.

3. PARTICIPATION BENEFITS

Selected projects will have access to:

Project presentation before industry professionals during HIFF.

Personalized feedback sessions.

Festival accreditations.

One-on-one meetings with post-production, distribution, and programming specialists.

Access to industry awards for the winning project.

4. AWARDS

The following awards will be granted to the winning short film:

5. JURY AND SELECTION

The selection committee will be composed of:

Members of the HIFF Industry Activities Commission

A representative of FESTHOME

A representative of CHEMISTRY

Evaluation criteria:

Originality and quality of the proposal (40 points)

Strength of the project and feasibility of completion (30 points)

Team background and motivation (30 points)

A maximum of five projects will be selected.

6. GENERAL CONDITIONS

The selected team must participate either in person or online in the WIP session on June 11, 2026, within the framework of the festival.

Selected participants must confirm their participation within the deadlines established by the organization.

Participation implies full acceptance of these rules.

Selected projects must include the HIFF logo and the corresponding mention in the credits.

For projects presented in person, HIFF will cover one night of accommodation and one meal.

7. CALENDAR (TENTATIVE)

Call opening: March 5, 2026

Call closing: March 19, 2026

Announcement of selected projects: May 2026

WIP HIFF on-site activities: June 11, 2026

8. ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES

Any questions regarding the interpretation of these rules or conflicts arising from their application will be resolved by the HIFF organization via email at gestion@huesca-filmfestival.com
.

The organization reserves the right to establish specific exceptions due to force majeure and to modify the presentation date within the week of June 8 to 12, 2026.

Submitting the completed application form confirms participation in the call and full acceptance of these rules. Any matter not covered herein will be resolved by the organization.

9. PERSONAL DATA PROCESSING

Participants guarantee the accuracy of the information provided and compliance with the established requirements. Providing false information will result in disqualification.

Personal data provided will be used exclusively for managing the call and will not be shared with third parties except when legally required or operationally necessary.

Applicants consent to receiving communications from the organization, including subscription to the newsletter.

Registration also implies authorization for HIFF to capture, reproduce, and disseminate images and/or videos of participants during the festival for use in HIFF’s communication channels.
