Universidad Europea's Creative Campus is celebrating the second edition of its animated short film festival: a space for students and professionals to share their best work, compete for awards, and connect with the industry.
Who can enter?
Student
Students over 16 years of age or alumni graduating in 2024.
Note: Students must provide a current enrollment or 2024 graduation certificate. All categories must present a promotional teaser and poster of the work.
Professional
Members of the animation or video game industry
Format
MP4 or MOV (H.264) with HD 1080p resolution.
Language
They can be in any official language of Spain, with Spanish subtitles.
Theme
Free, as long as they respect the principles of non-discrimination, hatred, xenophobia, or explicit sexual content.
Rights
They must be original, and the author must own the exploitation rights. Accepted: Narrative and experimental short films, music videos, promotional pieces, video game cinematics.
Restriction
The use of generative artificial intelligence in the production of short films is not permitted.

BACKGROUND
The Creative Campus of the European University of Madrid, in collaboration with Digital Monster Collective and MIA, launches the second animated short film festival with the intention of:
1) Creating a space where students from different universities can share their best works.
2) Rewarding talent and creativity in the world of audiovisual animation.
Entry characteristics:
1) Short films of less than 10 minutes, created using any animation technique, must be submitted between 2024 and the competition deadline in 2025.
2) The format must be MP4 or MOV (H.264) with HD 1080 resolution.
3) Entries may be in any official language of Spain and must include Spanish subtitles.
4) Entries may be of any theme, provided they do not discriminate, promote hatred or xenophobia, and are not sexually explicit.
5) Narrative and experimental short films, music videos, promotional pieces, and video game cinematics will be accepted, provided that the author holds the exploitation rights to the work and the trademark appearing in it.
6) The works must be original, and the author must own the exploitation rights to the submitted work.
7) The use of generative artificial intelligence in the production of short films is not permitted.
Participation Requirements:
There will be two categories: student and professional.
-Student category: All Universidad Europea students of legal age or alumni who graduated by 2024 are eligible.
-Professional category: Professionals in the animation or video game industry with audiovisual projects that meet the requirements outlined above.
Registration
The deadline for submitting short films is September 1, 2025.
Registration can be made through the FESTHOME website.
Registration is free.
Submitting a work implies acceptance of the rules.
Submissions submitted after the deadline will not be accepted, nor will those that do not meet the criteria established in the call for entries (any work found to contain plagiarism, use of AI, copyright infringement, or containing unacceptable content or length will be rejected from the festival and the competition).
To participate in the student category, along with the short film, you must present proof of current enrollment at an affiliated university, institute, or center at the time of registration, or of having graduated between 2024 and 2025. In addition, you must include a teaser of the short film for event promotion if you are selected as a finalist, in the same format as the short film. A poster of the film must also be presented for promotion if you are selected as a finalist.
Categories and prizes:
-Best Animated Short Film Award.
Student category: €500
Professional category: €1,000
-Audience Award: €250
*The possibility of a runner-up or special mention is reserved for any worthy work.
Criteria for awarding prizes:
The criteria that will be considered for awarding prizes will be originality, technical quality, narrative depth or complexity of the technique used in the case of experimental works, and the value added in terms of the choice of theme.
Assignment of intellectual property rights:
Participation in this call entails the free, non-exclusive, universal, and unlimited transfer, as well as the ability to transfer to third parties (press, social media, and media) of the intellectual property rights of the submitted works, for the purposes of:
Screening the finalist short films on the online digital platform during the festival.
Promoting the event on social media and in the press using video clips or teasers.
Promoting the event in future editions using video clips or teasers.
Promoting the event in future editions using video clips or teasers.
Specifically, the winning short films will be screened again at an in-person public event.
Promotion on social media and press releases using the submitted posters.
This assignment includes, but is not limited to, the rights of reproduction, distribution, public communication, transformation, and any other intellectual or industrial property rights recognized by applicable law, always limited to the applications set forth above.
Jury and Resolution:
The jury's decision, which will be final, and the winning projects will be announced on September 25, 2025, at the Creative Campus of the European University at 39 María de Molina Street, during the event held for this purpose starting at 6:00 PM.
The finalists will be announced on September 19 on social media and participants will be notified via email.
The Jury will be composed of members appointed by the European University of Madrid.
The jury may declare the Prize void. In this case, the prize amount will be reserved for the next edition.
The Audience Award will be collected from votes cast on the official Creative Campus Instagram account, and the short films selected as finalists will be voted on by the jury. Voting will begin from the moment the jury's shortlist is announced until the short films are screened at the awards ceremony. The winner will be the one with the most votes.
The winners agree to include the festival laurel in their short film and in their public communications.

The Candidate gives full consent and accepts in their entirety the rules for participation in this call for applications. The data provided to the UNIVERSITY under these rules will be processed by the data controller, UNIVERSIDAD EUROPEA DE MADRID, S.A.U., for the purposes of managing this call for applications and the various activities for which the data is submitted, as well as for the sending of advertising and University activities that may be of interest to the data subject. The data provided under this application will be included in the data controller's systems. Furthermore, unless you clearly state otherwise, you expressly consent to the processing of said data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes indicated. FINAL PROVISIONS
The Organizing Committee, made up of three professors from the European University of Madrid, will be responsible for the smooth running of the contest.
The Organizing Committee reserves the right to make any changes to these rules that help improve the achievement of the objectives of this contest.
The Contest Organizing Committee reserves the right to annul or cancel all or part of the contest if it detects fraud or non-compliance with the rules. In this case, it reserves the right not to award a prize to any fraudulent participant. Fraudulent acts will immediately disqualify the person committing them.
The Organizing Committee will determine and communicate any changes or exceptions that affect these rules.
Acceptance of the Rules:
By submitting their applications, participants accept these rules and the decision of the Jury, waiving any claims.
These rules, which will be published on this page and on the designated website of the European University, will apply from the date of their publication.
