The second edition of the CORTONAOS FF La Palma International Short Film Festival will take place from August 3rd to 9th in the coastal town of Puerto de Naos. This initiative aims to raise awareness about respecting the ocean and the biosphere it harbors through audiovisual media. The festival's official selection will award prizes for the best national and international short film (including all short films submitted from outside the Canary Islands) and the best Canarian short film (for films shot in the Canary Islands).

Premi in contanti: 1,000€

Awards and Classification:

Best National and International Short Film: €500

Best Canary Islands Short Film: €500

1. Participants and Works:
Participants of any nationality may enter, provided their work was filmed in the calendar year prior to the publication of these rules, anywhere in the world. However, to be eligible for the competition, works must be properly subtitled in Spanish, and vice versa: works in Spanish must be subtitled in English. Participants represent and warrant that they are the sole owner or hold the right to exploit all copyrights to the audiovisual production they submit to the competition and are fully responsible for ensuring that no third-party rights exist in the submitted works. The organizers are not responsible for copyright infringement by participants.

Theme:
The theme of the work submitted to the competition is open and may be fiction, documentary, or animation. It must be related to the sea or oceans, which must be depicted directly or indirectly within the plot. While not a fundamental requirement, expressing environmental awareness regarding respect for the oceans will be considered an asset.

Requirements:
Short films must comply with the following conditions:

• There is no limit to the number of entries a participant may submit.

• Entry is free.

• Films must not exceed 15 minutes in length.

• Films must be submitted within the established deadlines.

• Films must adhere to the format and quality standards outlined in these guidelines. Participants who do not comply with all the stated conditions will be automatically disqualified.

• Films submitted in a foreign language must include embedded Spanish subtitles, and vice versa; Spanish films must be subtitled in English.

• Films submitted to other competitions may be entered, provided they were filmed within the year prior to this call for entries.

Submission Deadline and Dates:
The submission period will close on July 12, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

4. Evaluation Process:
After the deadline, the submissions will be pre-selected by the selection committee and subsequently evaluated by the jury.
