The "MIRA" LGBT+ Short Film Festival is a cultural and social initiative that seeks to raise visibility and celebrate sexual and gender diversity through the narrative power of cinema. Held annually in Alzira, the festival provides a platform for both emerging and established filmmakers and producers, from Spain and around the world, who explore LGBT+ themes, promoting dialogue, empathy, and understanding in society.

Our goal is to create a safe and enriching space where LGBT+ stories can be told, recognized, and appreciated, contributing to the fight against discrimination and to the building of a more inclusive society.

Prix ​​en espèces: 450€

First Prize – €300.00 + Gift + Golden Trophy

Second Prize – €150.00 + Gift + Silver Trophy

RULES FOR THE FOURTH MIRA FESTIVAL

The organizing association, GAILES Ribera Alta-Baja, of the FOURTH MIRA FESTIVAL, with the aim of promoting visibility, diversity, and creativity within the LGBTQ+ community, announces a new edition of its short film festival.

The rules for participating in this edition are detailed below.

1. Name and Theme The event is called the THIRD MIRA FESTIVAL and its theme revolves around LGBTQ+ diversity.

2. Important Dates

• Registration opens: April 10, 2026

• Registration closes: September 30, 2026

• Festival date and screening of selected short films: November 28, 2026

3. Participation:

• Anyone over 18 years of age, of any nationality, may participate.

• No distinction is made between amateur and professional participants.

• Short films must include Spanish subtitles if they are in another language.

4. Short Film Requirements

• Minimum duration: 5 minutes. Maximum duration: 15 minutes.

• Any language is acceptable, provided that Spanish subtitles are included.

• The film must have been produced within the last 5 years.

• All submission formats are accepted (digital file, viewing link, etc.).

• Short films that have already participated in other festivals are accepted.

• Music videos or other works that are not considered short films will not be accepted, with the exception of musicals.

5. Categories and Awards

• There is no distinction by category (documentary, fiction, animation, etc.).

• The first and second best short films will be awarded prizes. These will be determined by a vote of the audience attending the event.

• The jury will especially value narrative and editing.

• The prizes will consist of a trophy for the first and second best films. The first prize will also include €300.00 and a special gift, and the second prize will include €150.00 and another gift.

6. Selection and Jury

• A jury composed of members of the organizing committee will select the short films that will be screened on the day of the festival.

• During the screening, the audience will be able to evaluate the short films by completing a questionnaire. This vote will account for 50% of the total score.

7. Rights and Authorizations
• Participants must grant the rights to exhibit their works for public screening during the festival.

• They must also authorize the use of images and sounds from the short film for the promotion of the event on social media, in the press, or online.

• Use will always be for cultural and non-commercial purposes.

8. Required Documentation To participate, the following must be submitted:

• APPENDIX I: Declaration of Responsibility, along with a copy of your ID card or other identification document.

• APPENDIX II: Synopsis of the short film.

• APPENDIX III: Acceptance of Legal Terms.

• APPENDIX IV: Short Film Submission Information. Participation in the festival implies acceptance of these rules. The organization reserves the right to modify any aspect of these rules if necessary, informing participants beforehand.
