The Visual Design Department of the University of Caldas invites:

• Students • Teachers • Researchers • Artists • Professional animators

to participate in the competitive showcase of works at the LOOPA 2025 International Animation Festival, to be held in Manizales from October 14 to 18.

Eligible animation products may include video game cinematics, short or feature films (narrative, commercial, documentary, and/or experimental), produced in academic, artistic, or professional settings.

It is recommended that the resulting video quality of the animations be at least 1024 in high quality and resolution.

The submitted works will be selected and classified to participate in the following categories:

Academic Category

Animation exercises resulting from research and/or formative creative processes, or classroom projects.
Duration: Minimum 30 seconds.

Selected works will receive an exhibitor’s certificate and will be screened during the festival. An honorable mention will be given to the best work in each modality, and a prize will be awarded to the best in the category (Academic Category Winner).

Open: If the participant believes they have an animation that does not fit into these modalities, it may be submitted for the festival’s curatorial committee to review and classify into an appropriate category.

Evaluation Criteria

In any case, the showcase will feature works deemed by the festival committee to be of the highest quality. They may declare a category or modality void due to lack of participation or insufficient quality.

Three jurors with extensive experience in the field will select the winning works in the academic and artistic categories, as well as the winners in each modality of the professional category.

Participation Requirements

To participate, you must complete the following form and may attach videos via links to platforms hosting the participating video or to a drive with the proper permissions. Attachments or links to platforms with download expiration dates will not be accepted.

Subsequently, the authors of selected works must send high-quality versions for screening, along with a signed and authorized copyright form.

The organization is not responsible for:

Files that do not meet the requirements; such works will not be considered.

Permissions not granted for file downloads.

Copyright conflicts claimed by third parties regarding a work, as stated in the corresponding form.

The festival may create event promotional materials using images or excerpts from works received and accepted for screening without any payment request for their exhibition. The event is entirely free of charge.

All author rights will be respected in the use of their images. If your material is accepted, you will receive an email with the next steps to follow.

Call for Entries Dates:
Opening: May 23, 2025
Submission Deadline: August 29, 2025

Don’t miss the chance to send your animations — we look forward to seeing you at this edition of Loopa!

If you want, I can also prepare this translation in a clean, ready-to-publish festival announcement format so it looks fully professional.
