The Festival will take place on 14 and 15 October 2026, at the Espacio Joven, C/Barcelona s/n in Ciudad Real (Spain). Dates may change or be extended depending on space and schedule availability.

Networking and hospitality: During the event, we will host MAN!HUB, an industry networking event where filmmakers can meet. In the final gala, to receive the cash prize, a member of the short film team must attend unless it is an international short, in which case a thank-you video subtitled in Spanish must be sent. Therefore, and subject to budget availability, the festival will provide transportation, lodging, and hospitality for filmmakers, following the model of previous editions.

2 - PARTICIPANTS

The festival is open to any filmmaker of any age, gender, and origin. No limit per author for submitted works. We do not promote ageism, sexism, racism, or nationalism, and only consider the quality of the films. However, as we support women’s rights, we have a special award for female creators available to women directors. This award is for the winning person, not the producer.

All short films are automatically considered for best script without extra steps.

There is a MAN!SAGE special award for short films about senior citizens, open to all selected shorts.

MAN!FIRST Award is for young creators, IES and FP students, and only open to participating schools in Ciudad Real (these films are submitted directly to the festival email, not via platforms).

All shorts and creators are automatically eligible for the SDG Award and the Best Actor/Actress awards, with no additional fees.

Only the winning feature film will be screened, along with the trailer of the special mention feature, but a number of finalists will receive official laurels.

The Tribute Award will be given to a person with a distinguished career in film or social relevance.

To qualify for Best Castilla-La Mancha Short Film, the production company’s registered address must be in the region, and this must be indicated upon submission.

3 – TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Short films (up to 20 min.) and feature films (60 to 130 min.) are accepted. Works of any production year and nationality are welcome.

All topics and genres are accepted, including documentaries and video art, although works with a social focus will be valued positively for awards and special sections. Works that promote hate or discrimination will not be accepted.

4 - SUBTITLING

Films can be subtitled in Spanish or english for selection. If selected, the producer must provide a screening copy with Spanish subtitles (hardcoded or as an .srt file).

5 - SUBMISSION

These are the platforms available for submissions:

Festival Fees and Phases:

Submission opens 6 July 2026 and closes 20 September 2026. Once submitted, films cannot be withdrawn. Fees are nonrefundable.

Every platform requires a fee based on the entry date and the project's category.

Filmmakers will be contacted by email for the final screening copy and award notifications.

The selection committee will choose the films for screening and awards. Notifications will be given in advance to avoid unnecessary travel expenses for filmmakers.

Declaration: During submission, applicants must answer questions regarding whether the short has a female director, if the production company is from Castilla-La Mancha or Spain, and the city of origin.

6 – RIGHTS

The film rights holders grant the festival screening rights during the event. They also authorize the use of clips (up to 1 minute) for festival promotion on TV and/or internet. Promotional photos may be used in this and future editions to promote the festival’s history. Entrants certify they hold the rights to submit their films and accept full responsibility otherwise.

The MAN!FEST organization reserves the right to modify, extend, or cancel any aspect of the festival, including these rules, due to justified reasons, unforeseen events, or causes beyond its control, such as sponsorship or institutional support issues or force majeure. In such cases, the organization will publicly communicate updates as soon as possible via official channels. Submission implies full acceptance of these rules and any duly communicated changes necessary for the proper management of the festival.

7 – ACCEPTANCE OF RULES

Participation in the Festival implies acceptance of these rules. The festival reserves the right to modify any rule if required or to declare a prize void if quality standards are not met (which has never happened).

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
