Creando 2026 Festival - Documentary Call for Entries


The Creando 2026 Festival is now accepting submissions for its documentary film section, inviting young creators to share their stories and visions. This competition seeks to boost emerging talent within the academic sphere, rewarding the technical and narrative quality of students’ work.

Organized at the Faculty of Humanities and Communication of the University of Burgos , the festival will conclude with an awards gala on February 5th and 6th. This is a unique opportunity for students to see their work screened and become part of a prestigious university cultural archive.

Cash Prizes: 700€

€200 for the Best Documentary Award winner

€200 for the Best Short Film Award (University of Burgos students only)

€300 for the Best Short Film Award

Participant Requirements

Profile:
All undergraduate university students and vocational training (VET) students are eligible to participate.

Technical Crew:
At least 60% of the technical crew must be university or vocational training students.

In the UBU Short Film category, at least 60% of the team must be students of the University of Burgos.

Accreditation:
Participants must attach official proof of student status (enrollment receipt or equivalent document).

Film Requirements

Theme:
Open theme.

Running Time:
The maximum permitted duration is 20 minutes for documentaries and 30 minutes for short films.

Production Date:
Only works produced from 2024 onwards will be accepted.

Number of Entries:
Each author may submit one documentary and one short film, with the exception of University of Burgos students, who may submit two works: one per category or the same work in both categories.

Language:
Works whose original language is not Spanish must include Spanish subtitles.

Submission of Materials and Deadlines

Submission Deadline:
Works may be submitted until January 15, 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted.

In addition to submitting the documentary or short film via Festhome, the following documentation must be sent by email to creandico.ubu@gmail.com

Content Restrictions

Works that promote racism, xenophobia, homophobia, gender-based violence, or that undermine human dignity or the principles of the Spanish Constitution will not be accepted.

Works may not include advertising or promotion of commercial products.

Jury and Awards

The jury may carry out a pre-selection if the number of submissions is high.

Jury decisions are final, and awards may be declared void.

Mandatory Attendance: Award winners must attend the gala at the University of Burgos on February 5 and 6.

Rights and Ownership

Authors grant non-commercial reproduction and public communication rights for a period of two years.

The works will become part of the University of Burgos archive.

Authors retain the right to submit their works to other festivals.

Submission of the documentary and/or short film along with the required documentation implies full acceptance of these regulations.
