Sicilymovie – Agrigento Film Festival is a festival of feature films, short film, documentaries, videoclip, spot and animation shorts, created and organized by the Southmovie Association, which was created with the aim of bringing outdoor cinema for everyone to the heart of Sicily: the evocative Valley of the Temples of Agrigento, a city named Italian Capital of Culture 2025. The themes addressed in the works of directors from all over the world are multiple and educational.

The ninth edition of Sicilymovie is aimed at the best productions and distributions of short films and documentaries in the world who will compete for the Golden Demetra, the representative statuette of the Festival which recalls ancient Greece, cultural symbol of ancient Akragas, the city of Agrigento.
The project is supported and sponsored by the Valle dei Templi Archaeological and Landscape Park of Agrigento, the Municipality of Agrigento, the Sicily Film Commission and the Tourism Department of the Sicily Region. The Valle dei Templi Archaeological and Landscape Park is about 1300 hectares wide and here belong the remains of the ancient city of Akragas and the surrounding area up to the sea. The Valley of the Temples was declared a "World Heritage Site" by Unesco in 1997. Today the Valley of the Temples has more than one million visitors a year.

Sicilymovie - Agrigento Film Festival will take place from 18 to 21 July 2024 at the Valley of the Temples of Agrigento

The deadline for the call will be 2024, May 31 at 23:59

The official award of the Sicilymovie – Agrigento Film Festival is the GOLDEN DEMETRA statuette and is awarded to the winner of each category.

N.B. Only the directors or producers present at the Festival in Agrigento will receive the Demetra D'Oro statuette. The statuette will not be shipped. All winning works will receive the Official Laurel of Sicilymovie via email.

CATEGORIES

There are 14 categories selected for the festival, all with a free theme.

Only works created starting from January 2021 will be accepted. The maximum running time for short and medium-length films includes opening and closing credits.

The categories are as follows:

• Feature film – Longer than 45 min.

• Medium length film – from 20 to 45 min.

• Short film – Max 20 min.

• Young short film – Max 25' min. – Director's age Under 25

• Documentary feature – Longer than 30 min.

• Documentary short – Max 30 min.

• Animated short – Max 10' min.

• Videoclip – Max 6' min.

• Trailer – Max 3' min.

• Spot commercial – Max 2' min.

• Posters

• Reel – Max. 90” – Vertical format

• Around Italy – Max. 3 min. – tourist-themed short film/commercial that tells the story of an Italian town or place

Special category

• GOLDEN NIGHT IN THE VALLEY - Best Film
The best film in this category wins an evening dedicated exclusively to his film which will be screened in the garden of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. The director will be a guest of the Festival and an exclusive interview will be held on the Red Carpet and articles in all Sicilian newspapers.

Deadline

All works must arrive no later than the expiration date, May 31, 2024 at 23: 59 after elimination from the Festival.

Registration fee

Registration fee for Sicilymovie – Agrigento Film Festival is as follows:

Feature film/Medium length film/Documentary: 30.00 Euro
Short film/Short documentary/Spot/Video clip/Trailer: 15.00 Euro
Poster/Reel: 10.00 Euro
THE GOLDEN NIGHT IN THE VALLEY: 200,00 Euro

The registration fee must be paid for each work presented and can be done through Paypal at info@sicilymovie.it or bank transfer with iban IT51L0521616600000000091764 made out to Associazione Culturale Southmovie or it is possible to register your works through Festhome.

RULES AND TECHNICAL JURY

A maximum of 5 works for each author can be presented.

The works must be presented for pre-selection through the specific platforms: Festhome, the website www.sicilymovie.it or by sending an email with all the data in the technical sheet to info@sicilymovie.it. For the "Poster" category it is possible to send a high resolution JPG file to info@sicilymovie.it or register your work on the platforms mentioned and only the film poster will be evaluated.

Using the email you can send a private or public link of Youtube or Vimeo to be able to download or send the file via Wetransfer or any ftp with the quality of the work in fullHD or 4K.

The validity of the registration is considered void if the festival management does not receive the payment, the participation card or the data relating to the work presented. The management and staff of Sicilymovie declines any responsibility due to the reproduction of shorts containing material covered by copyright, for which the situation with the SIAE has not been regularized.

A technical jury composed of journalists, professionals of the audio-visual sector will express their preference for the winner of each category present. The jury also reserves the right to award any special or ex-aequo prizes.

Films with foreign language text must have subtitles in Italian or english, with the exception of the videoclip category, Around Italy and Best Poster.

In the email containing the participation form it is preferable to insert a poster or some representative photos of the work for free use in the promotion of the Festival.

Each author, by signing the release present in the participation form, will give consent to the use of some images of their works for the promotion of the Festival on social networks. The films will become part of the archive of the Sicilymovie – Festival del cinema di Agrigento. However, the staff of Sicilymovie undertakes to use it for exclusively cultural purposes, and in no case commercial, within initiatives aimed at promoting the Festival.

FINALIST

The selected finalists will be contacted by the Festival management by telephone, via email or through the Festival's digital platforms.

The works and names of the selected authors will also be communicated on the Official Pages of the social networks and on the website www.sicilymovie.it. The winners or their representatives will receive the Golden Demetra only if present at the Festival from 18 to 21 July at the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento.
The dates and official location may be subject to change, all finalists will be notified in time.
After the deadline for the announcement, details will be provided for the hospitality of the finalists at the Festival. The management will carefully follow the organization of travel for the participating finalists and will give those who decide to attend the opportunity to obtain exclusive discounts for hotels, bnb and restaurants.
Not all works will be screened during the 4 days of the Festival, the management reserves the right to decide which will be screened. During the duration of the Festival, the artist will have the opportunity to present his work with a special interview before the public screening during the evenings. This presentation will then be published on our channels.
The management of Sicilymovie – Agrigento Film Festival also offers, as an extra service, the possibility of presenting your work through an exclusive online interview which will be recorded and published on the social channels of Southmovie and Sicilymovie and on the website www.sicilymovie.it . The cost of the service is 50.00 euro for each interview and the maximum duration is 10 minutes and can also be received as a single file.

By registering your work and automatically accepting the regulations, all responsibility falls on the author\director\producer.

Registration and participation in the Festival imply complete acceptance of these regulations and the registration form. For any exception not covered by this regulation, the management reserves the right to make final decisions.
