Festival start: 01 August 2024      Festival end: 02 August 2024

“Accussì” was born from the broader idea of creating (in the future) a real Festival “for the eyes”, dedicated to the beauty of “local” territories, of spaces such as towns and villages that often experience dynamics of abandonment, and which instead in this project they become the theater of various types of performing arts, and primarily of a series of short films. The objective is to make the area of Giampilieri, sadly known in the news due to the floods in Messina in 2009, a place in which to welcome and talk about the beauty of cinema, without abandoning themes and contexts of a more "local" dimension .

The greatest ambition connected to this festival of short films is that it represents the beginning of a process of territorial valorisation where the central theme will always be the cultural redevelopment of the Village: a festival of short films "to begin with", a "Festival For Occhi" in all respects in the coming years, an event where cinema, theatre, visual arts, murals, sculptures and outdoor performances will meet and intertwine to enhance the entire context, contributing to its regeneration.

The Festival is open to any genre of short film and has 3 categories in which short films can compete:

1. “All the world in the country” category / Quality Jury Award – Category dedicated to short films which, at the sole discretion of the selectors, describe habits, customs and traditions attributable to communities (for example, themes such as “the sense of territorial belonging ”, “resilience” or “sharing”, “collaboration”, ...). This is a more generic category, where it will be possible to enter any type of short film. It will therefore be the Organisation, in the Selective Phase that will find in the works sent the "values" most compatible with the "Accussì" exhibition.

2. “Du Paisi” Category / Audience Award – Category dedicated to short films set within “local” dimensions and “non-metropolitan” realities (villages, small towns, ...), belonging to any genre and type of production.

3. “Picciriddi” Category / Special Youth Award – Category dedicated to short films (including animation) that exclusively tell stories of young people, or that have very young protagonists among their ranks.

During the course of the event, a Quality Jury will be established for the "Tutto il Mondo in Paese" Category (composed of subjects belonging to the world of communication and audiovisual production, specially selected by the organizers) and a Youth Jury for the Special Category "Picciriddi ” (composed of “Under 18” members belonging to the territory and specially selected by the organization).

As regards the "Du Paisi" Public Award, the winner will be chosen through the judgment of the public present during the evenings, through a vote (in the range from 1 to 10). There will be award plaques for the three best short films. The organization and the jury also reserve the right to assign special mentions to other works. The decision in this case is unquestionable.

The Festival will take place on 1 and 2 August 2024 at the Piazza della Chiesa di Giampilieri (98142 - Messina).

The authors of the selected works will be contacted via email or telephone.

Participation in the Festival, for the first year, is open to video makers, authors, screenwriters, creatives, etc... upon payment of a participation fee of €10.00 (Ten Euros). The Festival is open to all Italian and foreign authors, both at an individual and associative level.

A further requirement for selection is the duration, which must not exceed 25 minutes. The organization reserves the right to update the entry regarding the sections and awards of this Notice.

The shorts must be sent via Wetransfer or via upload on the aforementioned platforms no later than 11.59pm on 1 July 2024 (the Wetransfer email or the day of upload on the dedicated platforms will prevail).

The organization reserves the right to extend this deadline.

To participate, each director or anyone else who holds the rights to the short must send the following electronically or by uploading to the platform within the registration deadline:

• 1 Multimedia File (any format as long as it does not exceed 2 Giga) of the short.

• 1 Synopsis/Presentation of maximum five lines, to be sent via email toassociazioneaccussi@gmail.com in case of sending with Wetransfer. If it is sent via upload to the dedicated platforms, it will be sufficient to fill in the form thereon.

• 1 registration and release form (available on Facebook “Associazione Accussì”), completed in its entirety and to be sent via email together with the synopsis toassociazioneaccussi@gmail.com)

• 1 Short biography of the author (optional)

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
