The creation of the Arroios Film Festival aims to alert to the issue of inclusion through the 7th art. This is a festival of short films addressed to all those who make, or are interested, cinema. The Arroios Film Festival aspires to be a cultural meeting place and to approach a better understanding of the various aspects of the theme of social inclusion.

2nd Annual Arroios Film Festival in Lisbon, Portugal (the “AFF 2017”)

COMPETITION RULES

The 2nd ARROIOS FILM FESTIVAL will take place from Sep 9 to Sep 16, 2017 in Lisbon, Portugal. The Arroios Film Festival is under patronage of the Arroios Parish Council, in association with Arroios TV, and other public and private partners.

1. FILM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

All genres related to theme of “inclusion”

Non-English language works must have English subtitles at the time submitted


2. SUBMISSION

Submission to 2nd AFF starts from 1st March 2017 and will end 31 May 2017.

Participants are requested to submit their films online via any of our submission partners:
Festhome.com


3. SELECTION

The result of selected films will be available by the festival’s organization at the end of June 2017. The producers of the Arroios Film Festival will inform the selected films’ directors.

The list of selected films will be available on the festival’s website.


4. DISPLAY FORMAT

MPEG2 or MP4 or MOV (H264 Codec), with English subtitles included.


5. AWARDS

Up to 4 films receive prizes including the following:

o AFF Best Short Film (€ 3,000)
o Best Narrative Short film (€ 1,500)
o Best short Documentary (€ 1,500)
o Best short Animation (€ 1,500)

6.IF YOUR PROJECT IS SELECTED

If your project is selected to be recognized at the AFF 2017, you will be notified by the Festival of your status. Your project may also be exhibited at the Festival. If your project is selected, you must fulfill the following requirements by the date(s) designated by the Festival:

You must execute a release agreement wherein you

(i) Accept responsibility for obtaining any and all clearances necessary to exhibit your project in connection with the AFF 2017;
(ii) Warrant that you have the rights necessary to exhibit your project in connection with the AFF 2017; and
(iii) Indemnify and hold harmless Arroios Film Festival, its affiliates, and subsidiaries and any of their respective directors, officers, employees, partners, contractors, and representatives against any claim arising out of exhibition of your project in connection with the AFF 2017.

Then you must provide at least MP4 or .MOV file of the final, completed project for Festival archives and internal purposes.


7. PUBLISHING PERMITS

All text, data and photos sent by the participants to the Arroios Film Festival (www.arroiosfilmfestival.com) will be used for reference in several bilingual online and paper publications. This material may be translated, corrected or edited by the Arroios Film Festival team before being published. Under these terms and conditions, all participants give Arroios Film Festival the permission to publish and use this material for the above purposes.


8. EXCEPTIONS AND UNFORESEEN SITUATIONS

The Arroios Film Festival reserves the right to consider and decide on any matter omitted from these terms and conditions.
