BASIC Fashion Summit

FASHION FILMS SUBMISSION

BASIC Fashion Summit (BFS) invites filmmakers, designers, producers, agencies and fashion brands to submit their films for the very first BASIC Fashion Summit, supported by International Fashion Publication BASIC magazine and powered by Fashion consultancy agency Hollywood Connect. All films will be reviewed and judged by a selective group of industry professionals.

Nominated films will be screened at the state of the art facility – The SilverScreen Theater at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, CA.

/// In total of 40 nominated films (5 in each category) will be screened during BASIC FAshion Summit in October 2020 at the ScreenSilver Theater (294 seat Facility) at Pacific Design Center within the course of 2 days (20 Films shown each day respectively).

/// The trailers of winning films (8 films in 8 respected categories) will be showcased on the big screen at a five-star venue during BASIC Fashion Summit AWARDS GALA, attended by 500 VIP guests, including celebrities, Hollywood producers and filmmakers, influencers, designers, sponsors and agencies.

/// Each winner will be invited on stage to receive a handcrafted designed trophy and the golden-foiled certificate (nominees will be highly encouraged to attend the Awards Ceremony)

/// Each nominated film will receive BFS Finalist Certificate. Additional prizes will be announced during the judging period.

/// Winning films/filmmakers will receive a print feature/interview in International Fashion Publication BASIC magazine, plus additional press during the summit.

/// All nominated films and all winners will be added to BFS website and BASIC Magazine website.

BY SUBMITTING YOUR FILM TO BFS YOU ACCEPT OUR GENERAL RULES AND TERMS AND CONDITION AS SET BELOW.

Submitted films must be of a fashion nature (artistic vision, creative storytelling or sponsored by brands)
Films must be between 1 and 7 minutes (films longer than 7 minutes will NOT be eligible for entry).
The Submission may not contain pornographic materials; threats to any entity, place, group, or world peace; or violate any applicable laws.

The Submission may not infringe any third party’s intellectual property rights or infringe any third party’s privacy rights.
The Submission must not contain any third-party work, including any musical recording or composition, unless (1) you have a license to use such work in the Submission from the owners/licensors; (2) such work is in the public domain (3) you own the rights to such works.

You must own all rights in submitting your Submission. You must provide any licenses, permissions, or releases to Contest Parties upon request. Failure to provide such documentation or comply with any the foregoing requirements may result in the disqualification of your Submission.

All submissions must be submitted online, in electronic form via FestHome.

Submitted films must be created after 2018, films published or created before 2018 will NOT be eligible.

Submitted films will be judged by a specific score sheet that will evaluate films by various factors (technicality, originality, quality, creativity, execution, unique factors, wow factors, story telling abilities, visual presentation). All judges will be provided with specific score sheets, where each film will collect certain amount of points. In addition to the score sheet there will be an Emotional Feedback sheet, where judges will evaluate the film based on the overall effect it had on the viewer. The total combination of scores and Emotional Feedback sheet will be taken into account to determine the winners. There might be a possibility of the same film having several nominations. In case of even scores – BFS organizers will mediate and choose the winner based on their personal preference.

Films that have NOT been premiered or published in any platforms will be given special attention and priority. Please note in your submission form if submitted film will be a Premier.

Judging results are at the sole and absolute discretion of BFS Judging Committee and are final and non-disputable. BFS holds the right to reject any submission if they are not complied with our Guidelines, Terms & Conditions. BFS is not required to provide any feedback, comments or reasons, or any other information, regarding the selection or non-selection of any submitted Films or the process by which Films are or have been selected.

Submitted Films must not defame any person or violate the common law or statutory rights, including, without limitation, the rights of privacy and publicity or any other right of any person.

The Submitting Parties agree to indemnify and hold harmless BFS and BASIC magazine, its licensees, successors and assigns, and its and their members, officers, directors, employees, agents, representatives, associates and affiliates (each, a “Releasee”), from any claim, suit, action or other proceeding brought against a Releasee and from any losses, costs, or damages, including the Releasee’s full legal fees and costs, which it may have suffered or incurred or may suffer or incur, directly or indirectly based on, in connection with, or arising from the use and exhibition of the Film submitted by the Applicant or the breach or alleged breach of any representation, warranty or other agreement made by the Applicant in these Terms, or in the Applicant’s registration form.

GRANT OF LICENSE

(1) All submitted applicants must own all intellectual property related to their Submission and shall retain ownership of such intellectual property. By submitting your Submission, you grant BFS a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use, edit, publicly perform, display, reproduce, transmit, sublicense, and distribute in all media formats that exist now or in the future. This includes uploading the film on BASIC magazine website, BFS website, social media platforms and screen the Film during BASIC Fashion Summit. You agree to approve all download requests from BFS via Festhome to be eligible for Nominations and selected winners. Any requests not approved will cause submission to be disqualified.

(2) permission to edit WINNING films for creating trailers for screening during BFS Awards GALA and Summit screening nights.
(3) the promotion of BFS Parties’ Websites (collectively, the "License").

The License shall commence on the date you submit your Submission to BFS, shall not expire and need not be renewed. You may revoke the License at any time by providing BFS with written notice to info@basicfashionsummit.com, provided, however, that if your Submission is selected as an “Official Nomination”, or “Winner” before you provide such notice, the license shall become non-revocable. The Contest Parties will not use your Submission for commercial purposes without your permission except as expressly set forth above. All rights not expressly granted by you with respect to your Submission are reserved. By entering your Submission, you represent and warrant that you have the right to grant the licenses set forth in this Section Grant of License.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

BASIC FASHION SUMMIT and BASIC Magazine is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted for promotional purposes of BFS. The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations. The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless BASIC FASHION SUMMIT organizers and BASIC Magazine from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
