BREVE

Bazaar of short and vertical cinema

BREVE invites you to create short films, up to 1 minute long, shot on cell phones in vertical format.

We're interested in social commentary with sarcasm, humor, controversy, unexpected endings, lentils, blackberry juice, and cheesy old-fashioned music.

Invite your family and friends to participate and use your cell phone creatively. Film is a tool, and so is artificial intelligence.

Let's talk about the river, religious double standards, street and mountain sports, garbage, the neighborhood, the pedestrian block, family dramas, rural life, raising children, a life free from violence, machismo, consumerism, xenophobia, and bland soup.

We will accept your one-minute films until February 7, 2026, and the festival will take place at La Bellecera in Piedecuesta, Santander, on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

The 20 best one-minute films will each receive a jar of figs and 500.000 Colombian pesos.

Keywords: #Exploration #Interconnection #Care #Cooperation #Community #Ubuntu #GoodLiving #Construction #ComingTogether #Collaborative #Neighborhood #TheShort

現金賞: 110€

The Festival has established 20 cash prizes of $500,000 Colombian pesos each for 20 short films selected by the jury of La Feria La Breve. The allocation of prizes will be based solely on the criteria established by the invited juries for each competitive section. These prizes may be increased in value, but not reduced, before the festival takes place.

Important Note:

*Costs incurred for transactions necessary for prize payments, or legal withholdings, will be borne by the winners or, if applicable, deducted from the prize amount.

1st Consideration: The SHORT FILM FESTIVAL will take place on February 21, 2026, at the La Bellecera Community Library in the city of Piedecuesta (Santander), which will serve as the main venue. There will also be in-person academic and film programming, details of which will be provided in January 2026.

2nd Consideration: The call for entries for short films will be open from December 19, 2025, until February 7, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (Colombia time).

3rd Consideration: Registration for each short film in the festival is free and will be done through the Festhome platform. However, please note that Festhome may charge film producers for the use of its platform.

5th Consideration: Without exception, the production date of all films must be after December 19, 2025 (19/01/2025).

6th Consideration: All films to be presented at the SHORT FILM FESTIVAL will be selected by a curatorial committee headed by the festival's artistic director, composed of industry professionals, film specialists, and friends of La Bellecera.

7th Consideration: The SHORT FILM FESTIVAL will explore all film formats, techniques, and genres; Therefore, we accept fiction, non-fiction, animation, experimental films, and any audiovisual work with socio-cultural and/or artistic value, whether in its form or content, that the festival curators deem relevant to this edition.

8th Consideration: Films must not have been previously distributed or be publicly available on streaming platforms (YouTube, Netflix, RTVCPlay, etc.).

9th Consideration: National and regional premieres will be given priority when evaluating the selection of films and competitions. However, all films and series are welcome, provided they meet the following requirements:
One-minute films must have a maximum duration of 1 minute.
One-minute films must be submitted in vertical format (1080x1920).

10th Consideration: Selected films will only be exhibited in digital formats (.mov and .mp4) with H264 or ProRes compression codecs. The festival's technical department will contact the production team of the selected film to specify the encryption method and the details of the digital submission. In any case, the minimum required resolution is HD Vertical (1080 x 1920 px).

11th Consideration: Short films produced in any country worldwide are accepted.

14th Consideration: Short films whose primary language is not Spanish must be submitted with their respective Spanish subtitles. Translation and subtitling costs will be the responsibility of the producers.

It is also understood that they accept the rules and conditions of the call for entries.

16th Consideration: The festival management will select and appoint the juries for each category, which will be composed of panels of qualified professionals from the cultural, academic, and artistic fields of Piedecuesta, Santander, and Colombia. Individuals who have had any involvement in the production and selection of the festival's films may not serve as jurors. The juries' deliberations will be secret, and their decisions will be adopted by simple majority. The artistic direction may observe the juries' deliberations without offering opinions or interfering in their discussions or decisions.

17th Consideration: Any further questions will be answered via email: festivaldecinebreve@gmail.com

18. By registering a one-minute film, the participant declares ownership of the rights to the work, accepts the festival's rules and conditions, authorizes its public screening during the bazaar, and permits the use of excerpts and images from the material for cultural and community outreach purposes. Likewise, they authorize the one-minute film to be included in the "101 One-Minute Films in Community" project by La Bellecera in partnership with El Inspiratorio.

This bazaar understands cinema as a collective tool, an exercise in coming together, nurturing, and building audiovisual memory from the everyday, the neighborhood, and the common good.
