Bolton International Film Festival is proud to be one of the leading short film festival in the UK, it is accredited by both (BIFA) British Independent Film Awards and (BAFTA) British Academy of Film and Television Arts and thanks to alumni filmmakers.

Celebrating films from home and abroad the festival acts as an amplifier of emerging and established talent. Through its screenings, industry talks, masterclasses and networking sessions it aims to break open the door to a creative industry that many filmmakers find difficult to access and navigate. Our aim is springboard and assist filmmakers, connecting them not just to their peers but to the talent executives, funders, sales agents and distributors who can take them to the next level.

El Festival Internacional de Cine de Bolton se enorgullece de ser uno de los principales festivales de cortometrajes del Reino Unido, está acreditado tanto por (BIFA) British Independent Film Awards como por (BAFTA) British Academy of Film and Television Arts y gracias a los ex alumnos cineastas.

Celebrando películas nacionales y extranjeras, el festival actúa como un amplificador de talento emergente y establecido. A través de sus proyecciones, charlas de la industria, clases magistrales y sesiones de networking, pretende abrir la puerta a una industria creativa a la que muchos cineastas encuentran difícil acceder y navegar. Nuestro objetivo es servir de trampolín y ayudar a los cineastas, conectándolos no solo con sus pares, sino también con los ejecutivos de talento, patrocinadores, agentes de ventas y distribuidores que pueden llevarlos al siguiente nivel.

Terms:

1.) Entries in foreign languages must come with English subtitles.

2.) All entries must have been completed between 1st January 2020 and 3rd June 2022

3. Digital marketing materials should be made available to be used for our marketing purposes by 3rd June 2022

4.) If you have entered your film previously please to BFF do not re-enter it.

5.) BFF has no premiere or exclusivity rule, we also consider work that is already online.

6.) Film-makers must include a brief synopsis of the film in no more than 150 words

7.) Provide at least one high resolution image (1920 x 1080 or higher) for the use of Bolton Film Festival promotional brochures or publicity. More images for print are recommended so we have a choice.

8.) All entries must obtain the appropriate copyright clearances (i.e. music, archive footage, images, etc). Failure to do so will result in the entry being disqualified from the competition.

9.) Shortlisted entries will be screened during the Festival programme.

10.) Winners will be presented with their awards during the BFF Awards Ceremony, which will take place at the festival on 5th - 9th October 2022. There will be no prior notification of winners.

11.) If you are entering work that contains music into any category at Bolton Film Festival it is your responsibility to get clearance. By entering your short film to Bolton Film Festival you (or the artists who own the music and/or their representatives (such as PRS/MCPS) are waiving rights to claim royalties on the music from any monies generated by Bolton Film Festival.

12.) The selection and scheduling of all films screened at BFF is entirely at the discretion of the Festival Director and the programming team.

13.) The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

14.) The deadline for entries shall be midnight GMT 3rd June 2022.

Terms and Conditions

To be considered for the "Made up North" categories the filmmaker should reside within the area defined by the BFI Film Hub North: https://www.boltonfilmfestival.com/madeupnorth

To be considered for the "Community Films" category the film-maker and/or the group submitting the film should be part of a registered community group, a registered community enterprise group, a non profit or a registered charity group. Evidence supporting this claim may be required on request.

I authorise Bolton Film Festival to exhibit my film if selected. I confirm that an exhibition copy will be made available in a required format for screening during the 2019 festival.

I certify that I hold all necessary rights for the submission of this film/video to Bolton Film Festival and that all rights and clearances have been made. This film is not subject to any litigation nor is threatened by any litigation.

By Agreeing to these Rules and Terms, I transfer to the Bolton Film Festival the right to use excerpts of the submitted film, its stills, and trailers, for the purposes of publicity and marketing of the film at the 2019 festival, and for other non-commercial uses related to the promotion of the 2019 festival.

I also acknowledges that the film submission fee does not guarantee acceptance and no refund will be provided if my film is not selected.

Upon acceptance, Bolton Film Festival will ask for my film:

1) DCP preferred
2) Pro Res preferred
3) Minimum 1920x1080 digital file Quicktime, MP4, AVI, H264

If the filmmaker does not comply with the deadline to receive the film, the film can be pulled from the festival lineup.

Terminos y condiciones:

1) Todas las entradas en idiomas distintos al inglés deberán estar subtituladas al inglés.

2) Todas las entradas deberán ser completadas entre el 1 de enero de 2020 y 1 de junio de 2022

3) El material de marketing digital deberán ser entregados al equipo de publicidad del festival para fines de distribución durante el festival.

4) El mismo cortometraje no puede ser submitido más de una vez al festival.

5) Bolton Film Festival no tiene ningún acuerdo de exclusividad. También consideramos trabajos que ya han sido publicados online.

6) Todos los cineastas deberán incluir en sus admisiones una sinopsis corta de no más de 150 palabras.

7) Todos los participantes deberán proveer de al menos una imagen del cortometraje (1920x1080 o más) para uso promocional impreso durante el festival. Más de una imagen por persona es recomendada.

8) Todas las entradas deberán tener los permisos de uso y distribución necesarios. (música, visuales, archivos, etc.) El incumplimiento de esta regla resultará en la descalificación de la entrada.

9) Las entradas preseleccionadas serán proyectadas durante el programa del festival.

10) Las entradas ganadoras serán presentadas durante la ceremonia de premiación de Bolton Film Festival, que tomará parte del 1ero al 5to día de Octubre de 2022. No habrá notificación previa de los ganadores

11) Si submites un cortometraje que contiene música a cualquier categoría de Bolton Film Festival, es responsabilidad del participante obtener los permisos necesarios para distribución y uso. Al submitir tu cortometraje a Bolton Film Festival (tanto el participante como el autor o propietario de la música y/o su represenante) se acepta ceder el derecho de distribución y monetización a Bolton Film Festival.

12) La selección y programación de todos los cortometrajes presentados en Bolton Film Festival es exclusivamente a discreción del Director del festival y el equipo de programación.

13) La decisión del jurado es final e inamovible.

14) La fecha final de entrega de entradas es el medianoche GMT del 3 de junio de 2022.

Para ser considerado para las categorías "North West" el participante deberá residir dentro de las siguientes fronteras Greater Manchester, Lancanshire, Merseyside, Cheshire, Cumbria, Yorkshire.

Para ser considerado para la categoría "Community Films" el participante (individual y/o grupal) debe ser pare de un grupo comunitario, empresarial, caridad o sin fines de lucro registrado. Evidencia que respalde esta declaración será requerida.

Autorizo a Bolton Film Festival a exhibir mi película si es seleccionada. Confirmo que una copia del cortometraje estará disponible en un formato compatible para su exposición durante el festival 2022.

Certifico que tengo todos los derechos necesarios para la exhibición de esta película/cortometraje durante Bolton Film Festival y que se han tramitado todos los derechos y autorizaciones. Esta película no esta sujeta ni amenazada por ningún litigio.

Al aceptar estas Reglas y Términos, transfiero a Bolton Film Festival el derecho a utilizar extractos de la película presentada, sus fotos fijas y tráilers, para fines de publicidad y marketing de la película y promoción del festival durante la edición 2022.

Reconozco que la tarifa de entrada de la película no garantiza su aprovación y no se realizará ningún reembolso en caso de no ser seleccionada.

Una vez seleccionado, Bolton Film Festival solicitará mi cortometraje:

1) DCP preferido
2) Pro Res preferido
3) Archivo digital mínimo de 1920*1080 Quicktime, MP4, AVI, H264

Si el cineasta no cumple con la fecha límite para recibir la película, esta será descalificada.
