The Chicharrón Film Festival, held in Chiclana de la Frontera (Cádiz), celebrates its sixth edition from November 13th to 21st, 2026, establishing itself as a key event for emerging short films.

With a total cash prize pool of €2,300 and various special mentions, the festival recognizes excellence in different areas of filmmaking: directing, acting, cinematography, production, and sound design, among others. Furthermore, this year we are proud to introduce the prestigious "Canal Sur Radio y Televisión Award for Andalusian Audiovisual Creation", which awards the winner with the official bronze trophy "EL DILEMA" and the broadcasting of the film on the Andalusian regional television network.

The call for entries is open to short films of any theme, with a clear mission to serve as an inclusive platform for both new talents and established creators. Our line-up commits to narrative and stylistic diversity, giving visibility to innovative and personal projects.

The Official Selection Gala will take place on November 20th, 2026—an event open to the public that gathers the best of this edition in a warm and festive atmosphere. Submissions will be evaluated by a professional, multidisciplinary jury—which will include representatives from RTVA for the Andalusian category—ensuring impartiality, criteria, and high quality in every decision.

Beyond the screenings, the festival is designed as a meeting point for filmmakers, the audience, and industry professionals. A place to share ideas, network, and fuel the passion for cinema.

From November 13th to 21st, 2026, cinema takes over Chiclana once again. The Chicharrón Film Festival continues to grow as a landmark for those who believe in the power of storytelling through the short film format.

Theme:
Submissions are open to short films of any theme.

- Requirements:
Participation in the festival is open to any individual filmmaker or production company, whether amateur or professional.

- deadline:
Submissions will be accepted until Saturday, November 1st, 2026, at 23:59h. - Films:The maximum runtime for short films is 29 minutes. There is no minimum runtime requirement.
We accept projects made with any audiovisual technique, including animation, mobile devices, video cameras, digital video, and cinema film.
Only films produced after January 1st, 2024, will be eligible for submission.Films in languages other than Spanish must include Spanish subtitles.
Filmmakers must hold all the intellectual property rights for their submitted works.

- RTVA Award - Andalusian Audiovisual Creation:
The Canal Sur Radio y Televisión Award for Andalusian Audiovisual Creation (CSRTV AWARD) is included in this edition. Short films of any theme produced or shot in Andalusia, or made by Andalusian filmmakers, are eligible. The prize consists of the official bronze trophy "EL DILEMA" and the mandatory broadcasting of the film on CSRTV channels or platforms (without financial compensation from the network). Winning this award implies a non-exclusive licensing of reproduction and public communication rights for a period of two (2) years, automatically renewable for an additional three (3) years unless objected to by either party. Finalists must formally sign the acceptance of these terms and rights assignment 15 days prior to the jury's final deliberation.

- Submission:
Short films must be submitted through our officially associated distribution platforms.

- Jury:
The jury will consist of industry professionals from diverse disciplines. Their decision will be final and unappealable. For the CSRTV Award, a representative appointed by RTVA will join the jury panel. Jury members will be introduced on our social media channels during the festival.

- Selection Criteria:The official selection committee will choose the short films that will be part of the "Official Selection" of the VI Chicharrón Film Festival. From this selection, the jury will grant the corresponding awards and mentions.

Only short films awarded a prize or a cash award will be screened at our Official Selection Gala on Friday, November 20th, 2026, in Chiclana de la Frontera (Cádiz). A maximum of 10 short films will be selected, though this number may be slightly adjusted to ensure the event's pacing. Selected filmmakers will be formally notified through the platform. - Intellectual Property:
The submission of a short film implies the non-exclusive licensing of the work's rights to the organizing entities for its use within the scheduled activities of the event during the year.
