The 11th Cortala Yerba Buena, Latin American Short Film Festival reports that the call for shorts is open for the eleventh edition of the Festival for film directors and producers from the entire NOA region, Argentina and the sister countries of Latin America.

The Festival will take place from Tuesday, September 15 to Monday, September 21, 2020 and adapting to the particular context of the Pandemic we are experiencing, it will be a
special edition to enjoy as Drive-in cinema and / or Online.

The festival that was born in 2006 in Tucumán is co-produced by the Municipality of Yerba Buena and the Production Company Árbol Negro Films, creator of the festival.

Terms and conditions

1. The 11th Latin American Short Film Festival “Cortala Yerba Buena”, organized by Arbol Negro consists of holding an event where audiovisual short films are exhibited and competed.

2. The 11th Yerba Buena Cortala will be held from September 8 to 13, 2020 in the city of Yerba Buena, Tucumán. The competitions will be of a Latin American nature.

3. The main objectives are:
to. -Support and promote film production in the province of Tucumán and the region.
b. Hierarchize Tucumán to be a regional benchmark for the exhibition and distribution of cinema
c. Provide a training and updating space for audiovisual producers.
d. Generate a meeting space for filmmakers, producers, directors and actors.
and. Generate work networks in the region.

4. The 11th Cortala has the following categories in competition:
to. Latin American Official Competition Section: film productions of different
Latin American countries and Argentina.
b. Official Animation Competition Section: animated film productions of different
Latin American countries and Argentina.
c. Pachamama Competition Section: brings together the productions of the NOA region (Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán,
Santiago del Estero, Catamarca and La Rioja) of the Argentine Republic.
d. Tucumán Official Competition: this competition is aimed at authors originating by birth or
election in the province of Tucumán.

5. The 11th CORTALA summons all audiovisual filmmakers, over 18 years of age, natives by birth or election in the Latin American Region who wish to present their audiovisual works in the short film format. As many short films as desired may be presented by individual, legal or de facto companies.

6. Theme. The theme of the short films is free. Works of any genre and format will be accepted whose duration, including titles and final credits, does not exceed thirty (30) minutes. Only works carried out after January 1, 2019 will be accepted until the closing date of this call. Institutional or advertising audiovisual works will not be accepted. Nor that they have been presented in previous editions of the CORTALA festival.

7. Date of the call: The short films may be presented virtually through the website www.cortalayerbabuena.com.ar, from August 1, 2020 to Friday, August 23, 2020, at hs. 21, inclusive.

8. Mode of presentation of the works: In the case of shipments made by postal mail of the physical support, the date of the postage stamp for the receipt of the works will be taken into account. In the case of the virtual reception of short films, it will only be accepted through the download link, as well as a visualization link with a web page that the participant provides and / or acquires -ej: www.vimeo.com or www .youtube.com, etc.-, having to inform such circumstance by email. Presentation in other formats or video systems requires the authorization of the festival.

9. Selection: The selection of the shorts in competition as the programming during the event will be in charge of the organizers of the CORTALA festival.

10. Awarding: The awarding of the selected short films will be in charge of a JURY for each category, appointed by the Festival organizers and made up of people from the national film industry. The AWARD JURY will choose the best short films in each category. The decision will be final and the public will be informed on the closing day of the festival.

The Best Short Film in each category designated by the AWARD JURY will be awarded a prize awarded by the organizing institutions of the CORTALA festival. The term in which the prizes will be delivered will be totally linked to the terms of the institution that awards them, and may be a maximum of December 31, 2020, the organizers of the CORTALA event will be intermediaries between the winning participant and the institution, granting them information to the hard-pressed participant about the procedure that the prize demands.

11. Communication to classifieds: The filmmakers whose works have been classified will be informed reliably, by phone or email. It is recommended that a representative of each short film selected in the competition be present on the day of the projection of the work, to make its presentation and during the closing day of the sample, on the occasion of the awards ceremony. This representative must be
a member of the technical production team being the director, the producer or an actor of the same and must attend with their identity document.

12. The organizers of CORTALA will not be responsible for the expenses that the participant / s have incurred to participate in the competition.

13. Participation in the competition does not imply an obligation to purchase, nor does it entail any consideration by the participants or competitors.

14. All registered works must include original material. CORTALA is not responsible for their content in terms of rights or exploitation license.

15. Works whose original language is not Castilian / Spanish will only be admitted if they are subtitled or dubbed into these languages.

16. Registration Form. The registration form and the bases and conditions will be available on the festival's website (www.cortalayerbabuena.com.ar), said form must be duly completed and in the case of the bases and conditions they must be accepted.

17. The participating works and copies presented in DVD format will not be returned, becoming part of the heritage of the organizing institutions as well as the use of the material in their image rights regarding the exhibition of the short film, their use will be strictly cultural .
The festival management reserves the right to promote, disseminate and publicize the festival with the shorts that are registered.

18. Rights: The filmmakers whose works have been selected for the competition, authorize the use of material from the work for up to one minute, with a view to the promotional exhibition of the event through any graphic or audiovisual medium and to the mention of the people who will appear in the credits of each short film. Participation in the competition implies authorization by the filmmakers for the festival to disseminate by any means for advertising or promotional purposes, their names, voice and images, and that of the actors, without the possibility of claiming remuneration for such dissemination. compensation or claim any harm. The short films that make up the sample may be screened in future CORTALA traveling shows.

19. In relation to data protection according to law 25,326, the organizers undertake to safeguard any data or information provided by the participant.

20. CONSENT. Registration and participation in the CORTALA festival supposes the knowledge and free consent of the participant regarding these bases and conditions.

21. Any inconvenience and / or change that may arise between the instances of reception and exhibition of the material during the festival, are under the supervision of the organizing institutions, and the decisions that are adopted for the different purposes depend on them.
