CUTÚN, I Horror and Fantasy Film Festival of La Serena-Chile, the first version of this festival, is committed to competing in short genre films (horror, suspense, gore, sci-fi, thriller). It will also include a talk by invited Chilean directors on topics related to independent horror and fantasy cinema.
As a novelty, an additional category is contemplated for high school students (Chile and abroad).

1.-Adult Short Film Category: We give a monetary recognition to the 1st place category "Best Direction". ($ 100,000 Chilean pesos).

We will award a diploma of appreciation and recognition to the first three places of "best address". In addition, we will exhibit his works in the different samples that the festival performs in cities in Chile and in international festivals.
The LA Serena International Film Festival FECILS awards the winner of the adult category the prize consisting of the exhibition of his film in one of the days, according to the schedule to be defined, in the version of FECILS 2020, to be held in October 2020.
2.- Short Film Category Middle School: We gave a monetary recognition to the 1st place category "Best Direction". ($ 100,000 Chilean pesos).
We will award a diploma of appreciation and recognition to the first three places of "best address". In addition, we will exhibit his works in the different samples that the festival performs in cities in Chile and in international festivals.
The 1st place in the middle school category will receive as a prize the advice of the production company ALEGORIA CINE of the city of La Serena, advice that will consist of: 2 days of script counseling (2 hours per day), equivalent to the total sum of $ 250,000. -

1. Participation is open to producers, professionals, amateurs, from all over the country and abroad, as well as middle school students from all over Chile and abroad.


2. Those short films of Chilean and foreign nationality made from January 1, 2018 to date, and up to a maximum of two works per contestant, may be entered in the contest, taking into account that films that are not Spanish-speaking must have the option of Spanish subtitles to guarantee accessibility.


3. For the adult category, all the works in traditional format similar to the DVD and archive, and that in no case exceed 30 minutes (including credits), will participate in the contest. For the middle school category, all the works in a traditional format similar to the DVD and archive, and that in no case exceed 10 minutes (including credits), will participate in the contest.


4. Filmed and animated works will be received and of the different ways of producing an audiovisual work (animation, mobile, video camera, digital video, etc.).


5. The file must be accompanied by a file that must be completed with the following information: title / author / year / country / duration / Frame capture, title page / brief review / brief review by the director.


6. To enter your work at the festival, you must send a folder (.rar) through the digital platform wetransfer or another of similar characteristics, with 2 copies of the competing short film (mp4 and .avi) and the “FILM FILM COMPETITION FORM FOR TERROR 2020 ”(available on the festival's website), to the email festivalcineterrorls@gmail.com, where the subject should be“ 2020 Horror Film Short Films Contest ”. You must include a Registration Form for each short film you send,


7. The reception of the works ends on July 24, 2020 at 23:00 Chile time.


8.- Categories:

8.1.-Category adults (over 18 years, audiovisual producers and / or amateurs from Chile and abroad.

8.2.-Category middle school students, from Chile and abroad (accredited with a regular student certificate from postulant).


9. 10 short films from the adult category will be selected, in addition to 5 short films from the middle school category. Finally, the selected films will be published in the official catalog of the festival and will be shown in public sections during the development of the festival.


10.- The organization of the contest reserves the right to make the decisions that it deems pertinent for those cases not foreseen in these bases.


11.- Selection criteria: jury will evaluate relevance with the genre, originality of the script, artistic and technical treatment.


12.- The material delivered by the participants will not be returned. The mere presentation of works implies acceptance of the contest rules. The responsibility for compliance with the rules on copyright will be the sole responsibility of the contestants. All costs and expenses incurred by the participants will be their sole responsibility and the organization will not have any responsibility for them. No participant may demand reimbursement of any kind.
