SHORT FILMS COMPETITION

The Dystopia, film and environment festival of the Murcia region is a project that aims to disseminate, serve as a reference and raise awareness about environmental cinema, as well as support and disseminate both national and international productions on this subject.

Cash Prizes: 300€

Awards and Winners If deemed appropriate by the festival, the winners commit to participating as jury members in future editions of the festival.

• Grand Prize of the Festival for Best Short Film: Awarded with a prize of €300 (VAT included).
All prizes are subject to current tax legislation.

PRESENTATION

Distopia, the film and environment festival of the Region of Murcia, is a project aimed at disseminating, serving as a reference, and raising awareness about environmental cinema, as well as supporting and promoting national and international productions on this theme.

RULES OF THE SHORT FILM COMPETITION OF THE 2nd DISTOPIA, FILM AND ENVIRONMENT FESTIVAL OF THE REGION OF MURCIA

Participation Guidelines:

Requirements

a. All directors, producers, and distributors who hold the rights to the works submitted to the competition may participate. The theme of the works must exclusively focus on the environment, addressing different social and environmental situations and circumstances worldwide.

b. This competition is open to live-action and animated works.

c. The submitted works must not exceed 20 minutes in duration.

d. Each participant may submit as many works as they wish.

e. Each work must have a separate registration and documentation.

f. All participants must be over 18 years of age. The works must have been produced between 2021 and 2023.

g. Works that are not in the Spanish language must be subtitled in Spanish.

h. Works that have already been selected in previous competitions will not be accepted.

i. Selected works must be provided in the following format for screening: MP4 H.264 1920X1080.

The registration period for the works will begin on July 22, 2024, and end on September 1 of 2024.

No DVD or Blu-ray copies will be accepted.

Participants must register through one of these platforms: Festhome.
Additionally, once registered, participants must send the following materials to the organization:

• Director's photograph and biography.
• Logos and biographies of the production company/companies involved in the production of the submitted work.
• Technical sheet of the short film.
• Three high-resolution frames extracted from the work. Copies in 35mm will not be accepted, and the organization will not be responsible for this type of material and will not accept works in this format.

Selected Shorts:

The Festival Jury will consist of a panel of film and environmental professionals for each competition section of the Festival. The Jury's decision is final.

The shorts will be screened during the festival at the Festival venues in the city of Murcia.

The festival reserves the right to make as many public screenings as it deems necessary during the festival.
Distributors and producers will grant the rights for public screenings at no cost to the festival. The public screening of the works will be in the format required in point "i" of the requirements section (HD).

The materials submitted for the festival's competition registration may be used in different festival advertising elements and materials.

The jury will select the winning works, which will be announced at the festival's closing ceremony. The jury may also make special mentions, which may or may not include a monetary prize.

The selection for the competition and the jury's decision are final, irrevocable, unchangeable, indestructible, and incorruptible in this and other dimensions, including habitable planets within or outside our solar system. Furthermore, they will be recorded on some sacred material and protected by a curse of misfortune aimed at preventing any temptation to harm them. At the very least.

Participation in this competition implies acceptance of these rules.

  Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
