The Autonomous University of the State of Mexico, through the Secretaría de Difusión Cultural (Secretary of Cultural Promotion), the Dirección de Promoción Artística (Directorate of Artistic Promotion), and the Cineclub invites the members of the university community, graduated students, and general public to participate in the Fourteenth Short Film Contest “A PANTALLA ABIERTA 2020”.

The objective is developing, promoting and encouraging videos as a means of artistic and social expression.

A cash award corresponding to FORTY-FIVE THOUSAND MEXICAN PESOS will be distributed as indicated below:
a) $15,000.00 MXN for the best film in the Experimental Category.
b) $15,000.00 MXN for the best film in the Fiction Category.
c) $15,000.00 MXN for the best film in the Documentary Category.

1. Filmmakers can participate with no more than one video per category. length should be from 1 to 20 minutes (including credits).

a. Films should be sent in a High-Resolution MP4 format through Google Drive to the e-mail: apacineclub2020@gmail.com. Two copies are required (one with credits and one without them).

b. A completed Entry Form (Ficha de inscripción) must be attached, it will be available in the Dirección de Promoción Artística website and Cineclub UAEM

2. The theme will focus on highlighting the Universal Values ​​as alternatives, that promote better human relationships and constitute the counterweight to the violence, and it can participate within any of these categories:

a) Experimental (animation or new expressive proposals)
b) Fiction
c) Documentary

3. Short Films will be considered for competition if they were produced in the period from 2018 to 2020.

4. The deadline for registration and reception of films will be October 30th, 2020.

5. The films and documents sent after the deadline will not be taken into account.

6. The director must sign an authorization letter to allow his or her short film to be exhibited and programmed in the dates and places designated by the Dirección de Promoción Artística.

7. A cash award corresponding to FORTY-FIVE THOUSAND MEXICAN PESOS will be distributed as indicated below:

a) $15,000.00 MXN for the best film in the Experimental Category.
b) $15,000.00 MXN for the best film in the Fiction Category.
c) $15,000.00 MXN for the best film in the Documentary Category.

8. If appropriate, the jury may decide that no award shall be conferred.

9. The decision of the jury will be final.

10. The shorts films that the jury considers to become the official selection of the meeting, will be screened on Wednesday, November 18th at the "Esvón Gamaliel" Chamber Theater, inside the Rectoría building starting at 11:00 hrs. (Instituto Literario #100, Col. Centro, C.P. 50000, Toluca, Estado México).

11. The names of the winners and the delivery of stimuli will take place on November 25th at the award ceremony.

12. Foreign filmmakers or Mexican participants living in other country must include their bank details, account number, interbank clabe, and SWIFT code in their Entry Form; otherwise the stimulus will not be delivered. Any film in a language other than Spanish must include subtitles in Spanish.

13. The University is not responsible for the transport, food and lodging expenses of the participants who decide to attend the awards ceremony.
