European Academies Short Film Festival is a film festival that brings together the best short films made by students of the best film academies in Europe during the 2024 school year, within the film directing and animation courses.

The EASF Festival aims to be an opportunity to bring together the works of the new talents of tomorrow's cinema and to take a look at the European Film Academies.

The Festival will be held in the city of Brescia, Italy, on November 7, 8 and 9. The selected short films will be screened during the first two evenings. A jury of experts will evaluate the best works, which will access the final where the winning short films will be decreed. The winners will receive a prize that will be awarded to the director of the film and the Academy to which they belong.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION


- Only short films produced and made by students of Academies and Film Schools from all over Europe, within the film directing and filmmaking courses in the 2024 academic year, can participate in the selection. Short films made privately by students outside of the study courses will not be admitted.

- Short films must have a maximum running time of 15 minutes, including opening and closing credits.

- Accepted formats are: MP4; AVI; MOV; MPEG4 H264; MKV

- There are two sections:

SECTION A - dedicated to fiction short films 


SECTION B - dedicated to animated and/or experimental short films

Documentary short films are NOT permitted.

- Short films not in Italian must be subtitled in English.



REGISTRATION AND SELECTION


- Registration is free.​

- To register, you must fill out the registration form at this link https://form.jotform.com/251341989384064 in every point with the data of the student who is directing the film, no later than August 31, 2025.

- Short films must be uploaded to the Festhome platform no later than August 31, 2025. The title of the film and the name and surname of the director must be the same as those on the registration form. Short films sent with data different from those on the registration form will NOT be admitted.

- The Organizing Committee, at its sole discretion, will select (according to criteria of technical and artistic quality, originality , subject and creativity), the 20 semi-finalist short films, which will officially participate in the EASF Festival, which will be screened during the first two evenings of competition. 
The verdict will be announced on the Festival website and via private communication on September 30, 2025.

- The 20 selected directors will be asked to send a copy of the film with Italian subtitles for screening during the three-day Festival.

- The 20 participating short films will be screened during the first two evenings of the Festival, where a jury of qualified experts from the world of Cinema, appointed by the Organizing Committee, will select the 10 short films that will access the final evening, from which the short films, one for each section, will be chosen as winners of the Award Best Film.

- A People's Jury will elect the short film winner of the Special Prize City of Brescia .



COMMUNICATIONS


- Participation in EASFF implies acceptance by participants of all the conditions set out in these Regulations.

- The Organizing Committee will regulate at its sole discretion any cases not covered by this Regulation.

- Festival participants accept that the personal information provided may be used by the Organizing Committee for the management of the Festival, for the communication of the selections and the promotion of the works.

- The Committee reserves the right to use extracts of the works (max 60 seconds) for promotional activities related to the festival including publications on websites, social media and press material.

- Participants confirm that the submitted works do not violate legal regulations, copyright and privacy.

- The Organizing Committee reserves the right to suspend or modify the event at its discretion and for reasons of force majeure.

- The program and any changes during the event will be communicated on the official website.
