The European Short Films Amarante was created in 2014 by a partnership between the Casa da Juventude de Amarante and the Cineclube de Amarante, and it´s main objectives are the promotion of European values and the citizens role in the democratic life of Europe.
We wish to disseminate new opportunities in Europe for young people, namely through Erasmus+ and Creative Programmes. We also desire to spread cinematographic practices and short films learning and to expand Amarante´s cultural offerings.

All EU citzens living in EU countries and aged between 16 and 30 years old included, may apply to the European Short Films Amarante.

Prizes

The jury will assign two distinct awards:

Festival European Short Films Prize

1st Place
2nd Place
3rd Place

European Short local Films Prize: assigned to a local or neighbour municipality (Baião, Felgueiras, Marco de Canaveses, Celorico de Basto, Lousada, Penafiel, Castelo de Paiva, Resende, Cinfães e Paços de Ferreira) short film director and that will consist of a thematic EU country trip.
All directors chosen to compete for the weekend festival will be offered one Masterclass in Amarante with all costs included (travel, food and accommodation).

o 1st Place – 600 euros
o 2nd Place – 300 euros
o 3rd Place – 150 euros

REGULATIONS


1. Theme: Non-specific.


2. Goals:

• To promote cinematographic practices and learning of short film directing;

To promote interaction between Portuguese and foreign directors;

To promote independent European cinema;

• To increase the cultural offer of Amarante.


3. All citizens living in countries of the European Union, aged between 16 and 30 years old, included, may apply to EUROPEAN SHORT FILMS – AMARANTE with a deadline of 15th June 2015.


4. Citizens living in countries of the European Union, aged over 30 years at the date of registration, may also submit their short films which can be selected for display but not as part of the competition.


5. The short film file can be sent until the end of the 15th of June 2015. As an alternative, the short film DVD can be sent to the following address:

6. Reception of the film will be confirmed by e-mail.


7. Each director can apply with two short films maximum.


8. Short films should last no longer than 30 minutes and must include English subtitles.


9. Only short films concluded after January 2010 are eligible for participation.


10. All short films received will be reviewed by the board members of Cineclube de Amarante. Those who pass the first selection phase will be evaluated by a jury designated by Cineclube de Amarante.


11. For all legal purposes each competitor assumes entire responsibility for the content of his short films. Any responsibility is exempted from the organization .


12. All short films in competition, selected or not, will join the collection of Cineclube de Amarante, which will never be used for profit.


13. Awards. The jury will assign two distinct awards:

Prémio Festival European Short Films

o 1º Place – 600 euros
o 2º Place – 300 euros
o 3º Place – 150 euros

14. The decisions of the juries are final.


15. All entries of films made to EUROPEAN SHORT FILMS FESTIVAL – AMARANTE presuppose knowledge of and acceptance of these regulations.


16. The festival board will decide upon all matters that are not covered by these
regulations in accordance with the international rules of film festivals.


17. The short films will be displayed at EUROPEAN SHORT FILMS FESTIVAL – AMARANTE, from 11th to 13th September 2015.
