Festival start: 20 November 2027      Festival end: 20 November 2027

You are not submitting a film. You are submitting a screenplay.

The EvokeStory.ai International Screenplay Fund is an international screenplay competition built on one idea: a writer should not have to write in a borrowed language to be read.

Most international competitions ask for English. That single requirement filters out thousands of writers before a page is read, not for the quality of their story but for the cost of a translation. We removed that filter.

WRITE IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE

Entries are accepted in seven languages, each competing on equal footing: Turkish, English, Arabic, French, Spanish, German and Portuguese. Your screenplay is read and judged in the language you wrote it in, against entries in that same language only. Arabic is read in its own right-to-left screenplay format.

FOUR FINALISTS FROM EVERY LANGUAGE

Two short and two feature screenplays are selected in each of the seven languages, for a total of 28 finalists. Every finalist receives a one-year EvokeStory Pro plan, worth 359 USD, whether or not their project goes on to be funded.

TRANSLATION IS ASKED OF FINALISTS ONLY

You do not pay for a translation to enter. An English version of the screenplay is requested only once you are a finalist, together with your project file, so that the main jury can read all 28 finalists in a shared language.

TEN PROJECTS ARE FUNDED

From the 28 finalists, the main jury selects five features and five shorts. Each selected feature receives 10,000 USD and each selected short receives 5,000 USD: 75,000 USD in total, and more than 85,000 USD in total prize value once the finalist plans are counted. Finalists are announced on October 15, 2027 and the funded projects on November 20, 2027.

NO GENRE RESTRICTION, RIGHTS STAY WITH THE WRITER

We take no option, no percentage and no credit on your work. The award is a development grant. The Fund exists to move a screenplay one step closer to being made, not to acquire it.

OPENING WINDOW

Screenplays submitted between September 10 and October 1, 2026 carry no entry fee. Festhome applies its own submission fee, which is shown at checkout.

The Fund is run by EvokeStory.ai, a screenplay and story development platform available in the same seven languages, founded by film director, producer and screenwriter Burak Varlık, who also founded Beşiktaş Senaryo Ajansı, a screenwriting agency in Istanbul, and has worked with hundreds of writers in its workshops. Writing your screenplay on the platform is not required and gives no advantage in judging.

Cash Prizes: 75,000$

Feature Screenplay Award: 10,000 USD, five awarded

Short Screenplay Award: 5,000 USD, five awarded

Finalist Award: one-year EvokeStory Pro plan, 359 USD value, 28 awarded

Ten projects are funded each cycle: five feature screenplays at 10,000 USD each and five short screenplays at 5,000 USD each, 75,000 USD in total. Every one of the 28 finalists, four in each of the seven competition languages, also receives a one-year EvokeStory Pro plan worth 359 USD, whether or not their project is funded. Total prize value exceeds 85,000 USD. Cash awards are development grants paid directly to the writer. EvokeStory.ai takes no rights, no option and no percentage in the awarded project.

ELIGIBILITY

1. The competition is open to writers worldwide, of any nationality and any level of experience. Entrants must be 18 or older, or submit with the written consent of a legal guardian.

2. Screenplays must be submitted in one of the seven competition languages: Turkish, English, Arabic, French, Spanish, German or Portuguese. Your screenplay competes only against entries written in the same language.

3. The writer must own all rights to the submitted material. Adaptations require documented permission from the rights holder.

4. Screenplays that have been produced, optioned, or are under an active option agreement at the time of submission are not eligible. Previous submissions to other competitions are allowed.

5. Co-written screenplays are eligible. All credited writers must be named at submission, and the award is paid as a single grant.

FORMAT

6. Feature screenplays: 70 pages or more. Short screenplays: 40 pages or fewer.

7. Submit a PDF in standard screenplay format for the language of submission. Arabic screenplays are read in right-to-left format.

8. The title page must not contain the writer's name or contact details. Judging is blind.

9. There is no genre restriction and no theme requirement.

JUDGING AND TRANSLATION

10. All entries are read and judged in their original language by readers working in that language.

11. Twenty-eight finalists are announced on October 15, 2027: two feature and two short screenplays in each of the seven languages. Every finalist receives a one-year EvokeStory Pro plan, worth 359 USD, whether or not their project is selected for funding. The plan is granted to the credited writer and cannot be exchanged for cash.

12. Finalists are then asked for two files: a project file and an English version of the screenplay. No translation is required to enter, and no translation is requested from non-finalists.

13. The main jury selects five features and five shorts from the finalists. Final results are announced on November 20, 2027. Feature awards are 10,000 USD each and short awards 5,000 USD each, paid as development grants directly to the credited writer or writers.

RIGHTS AND USE

14. Submitting to the Fund grants no rights in your screenplay to EvokeStory.ai. We take no option, no percentage and no credit. The award is a development grant with no strings attached to the work.

15. Submitted screenplays are never used to train artificial intelligence models, in whole or in part.

16. Submitted material is read only by the readers and jury members assigned to it and is treated as confidential.

17. Winners agree to have their name, project title and logline announced publicly.

SUBMISSION

18. The Fund accepts submissions through Festhome and through the additional channels listed at www.evokestory.ai/film-fund. Submit the same screenplay through one channel only. Duplicate entries of the same screenplay across channels are withdrawn without refund.

19. Multiple different screenplays from the same writer are allowed and are treated as separate entries.

20. Entry fees, where they apply, are non-refundable once a screenplay has been assigned to a reader.

21. Using the EvokeStory.ai platform to write your screenplay is not required and provides no advantage in judging.
