The TROFEU TORRETES DE CURTMETRATGES DE CALELLA is an international short film festival covering
fiction, animation, and documentary/reportage (non-fiction).

The official selection is based on artistic and technical criteria, including independent and amateur filmmaking.

The festival is organized by FESTIMATGE Calella, produced by the local non-profit cultural organization FOTO-FILM CALELLA.

Premios en Metálico: 2,000€

AWARDS

Selected films will compete for the following awards (no film may receive more than one cash prize). Cash awards are subject to applicable Spanish tax withholdings.

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to present extraordinary awards or ex aequo mentions.

Official Section:

• 1. Honor Award: "Torretes" Trophy and €700 for the best short film of the Festival.

• 2. Trophy and €300 for Best FICTION Short Film.

• 3. Trophy and €300 for Best NON-FICTION Short Film (Reportage under 25 min).

• 4. Trophy and €300 for Best ANIMATION Short Film.

Amateur Section:

• 5. €100 for Best AMATEUR FICTION Short Film.

• 6. €100 for Best AMATEUR NON-FICTION Short Film (Reportage < 25 min).

• 7. €100 for Best AMATEUR ANIMATION Short Film.
Special Awards:

• 8. €100 for Best Short Film in CATALAN.

• 9. ALES Trophy (Ciutat de Calella Award): Non-monetary award for the best work by a filmmaker from Calella or focusing on Calella (proof of local connection required; decision of the jury is final).

• 10. Torretes Jove Section: Non-competitive, with diploma/mention and no cash prize, for works by young directors up to 20 years old.

Award-winning filmmakers are invited to attend the Closing and Awards Ceremony of the XXII FESTIMATGE Calella.

Winners unable to attend for justified reasons must submit an acceptance video. Trophies and cash prizes not collected during the ceremony will be held for up to 3 months following the festival closing date. After this period, the organization is exempt from delivering the award and amount.

ELIGIBILITY AND PARTICIPANTS

Open to all short films that have not been previously screened at this Festival. Submissions are processed online as detailed in the technical specifications below.

Not all submitted short films will be selected for screening in the Official Section.

To promote amateur cinema, works by non-professional filmmakers will compete in the Amateur Section.

The Torretes Jove Section (non-competitive) is dedicated to works by young filmmakers up to 20 years of age, submitted individually or by their school, workshop, or educational institution. These films will be screened out of competition during the festival.

The Admission and Selection Jury reserves the right to reassign the section or category of any submitted film and will oversee strict adherence to these rules.

Categories for Official and Amateur Sections:

Fiction,
Non-Fiction (Reportage),
and Animation.

The Torretes Jove Section has no categories.


TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

a) Film Submission: Entries must be submitted through one of the three digital platforms:
festhome.com, following their specific instructions.

b) Production Year: Films completed before 2025 will not be accepted.

c) Running Time: Maximum duration must not exceed 25 minutes (including Non-Fiction).

d) Language and Subtitles: If the original language is not Catalan or Spanish, subtitles in either Catalan or Spanish must be provided.


FESTIVAL ORGANIZATION AND JURY

a) Juries: Two independent juries will be appointed by the festival committee (comprising professionals from cinema, audiovisual media, and culture): the Selection Jury, responsible for curating the official screening schedule, and the Award Jury, responsible for granting the prizes.

b) Official Announcement: Selection results, screening timetables, and award decisions will be announced on social networks and the official websites www.fotofilmcalella.org and www.festimatge.org.

c) Interpretations: Juries and organizers will resolve any interpretive issues regarding these rules. All decisions are final and irrevocable.

d) Jury Verdict: The verdict will be announced on Saturday, January 30, 2027, at Auditori Terricabras in Calella (open to members of the association).

e) Unawarded Prizes: The jury reserves the right to declare any award void.
