Festival start: 11 June 2026      Festival end: 20 June 2026

The International Festival “Cinema Within Cinema” (FECIDECI) will hold its first edition from June 11 to 20, 2026, with activities taking place across various venues in Peru.

This new cinematic event proposes a unique space dedicated entirely to films that reflect on cinema itself: its history, its creators, its audiences, and its power of representation.

The festival is conceived as a meeting point for filmmakers, researchers, students, critics, and lovers of the seventh art, and aims to foster dialogue on how cinema looks at itself, remembers itself, and reinvents itself.

Over the course of a week, screenings, talks, and masterclasses will be presented, all with free admission for attendees.

“I’m pleased to share some excellent news from Peru: ‘Cinema Within Cinema’ is a new festival focused on documentaries about film-related topics. Its production team is passionate about the stories behind movies, and I’m sure it will soon become an exciting meeting point for filmmakers from all over the world. — Alexandre O. Philippe, director of documentaries about cinema.”

• Best Documentary Feature Film
Exclusively for documentaries addressing topics related to cinema: its creators, its history, its audiences, its creative processes, or its cultural influence.

Minimum duration: 60 minutes
Entry fee: USD 25 (except for Peruvian productions).

• Best Short Film
Open to fiction or documentary works that explore cinema or aspects related to its universe.

Maximum duration: 45 minutes
Entry fee: USD 15 (except for Peruvian productions).

• Special Jury Mentions in both competitions.

Winners will receive an official festival trophy and recognitions from partner institutions.

• The works must have been completed on or after January 1, 2022.

• Productions from any country and in any language are accepted, provided they include subtitles in Spanish or English.

• Films with a running time between 45 and 60 minutes may be considered for either of the two competition sections, at the discretion of the selection committee.

• Incomplete versions or “work in progress” submissions will not be accepted.

• Each participant may submit more than one work, provided that a separate entry is completed for each.

• Selected films will be part of the official program and may be screened in person and, potentially, on platforms associated with the festival (subject to prior authorization from the rights holders).

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
