Mexico City Animation Fest arises with the interest of becoming a global forum that give out the most innovative and propositive projects of contemporary animation.

Best Animated Fiction Short Film,
Best Animated Documentary Short Film,
Best Animated Experimental Short Film.

Mexico City Animation Fest calls national and foreigners filmmakers to register their works in the competitive sections of the first edition, which will take place from November 30 to December 3, 2017.

Will be considered mexican or foreigners works, with a maximum runtime of 32 minutes, completed in 2015-2017. Films made in any animation technique could apply in the next categories: Animated Fiction Short Film, Animated Documentary Short Film, or Animated Experimental Short Film.

All films can be registered at par in the online selection, which will be shown on the official website of the festival during the event dates.

This selection can not be subject to competition, so the pieces in this category will be considered for awards only in the previously mentioned categories.

Works will be received from the time of publication of the call for entries and until 23 hours (Mexico-City central time) of 19 October, 2017.

Entries must be submitted in their original language, with subtitles in Spanish or English if needed.

85% of the profits earned by the registration fees will be used to award each category in competition (the bag will be distributed according the profits of each category). Only one work will be awarded per section. In case of any of the winners do not claim their prize in the next 5 months, it will be understood that they waive it and can be used to cover the expenses in the next edition of the festival.

The Jury will be entitled to award other special mentions that they deemed for each category. In addition to the above, additional prizes of sponsors of the festival may be granted.

Participants may submit up to 4 works for consideration. The works to form part of each section will be chosen by a selection committee, whose decision is final.

Under no circumstances will participants be paid for any rights to exhibit the submitted work.

Selected works could be part of national and international exhibitions during 2017 and 2018. By participating, the applicant also accepts the use of frames or segments of the piece registered for the dissemination and development of printed or electronic materials such as invitations, posters, postcards or virtual catalog.

The list of selected films will be published in the official website of the festival on November 1, 2017. Se contactará a cada participante seleccionado por correo electrónico. Each participant selected will be contacted by email.

Registration of works to the Mexico City Animation Fest constitutes acceptance of the rules of this call and renunciation of any claim or legal action against the Festival, Red Nacional de Arte, their representatives or affiliates.
