Best Fiction Short Film: 1,000,000 COP (One million Colombian pesos)
Best Non-Fiction Short Film: 1,000,000 COP (One million Colombian pesos)
Best Music Video or Videoperformance: 1,000,000 COP (One million Colombian pesos)
Audience Award: 500,000 COP (Five hundred thousand Colombian pesos)

The Audience Award will be selected through voting on the festival's social media channels during the event.

Sections in Competition:

Fiction: Fiction short films with a duration between 3 and 25 minutes that highlight queer/LGTBIQ+ experiences, aesthetics, or perspectives, with stories or themes that tell the life experiences of our community or those related to it. It is important that in the making of this short film, the team includes people who identify as part of the LGTBIQ+ community in leadership roles (general direction, cinematography direction, scriptwriting, art direction, editing) or that more than 60% of the entire production team is made up of people who identify as part of the community.

Non-Fiction:

Non-fiction short films with a duration between 3 and 25 minutes that highlight queer/LGTBIQ+ experiences, aesthetics, or perspectives, with stories or themes that tell the life experiences of our community or those related to it. It is important that in the making of this short film, the team includes people who identify as part of the LGTBIQ+ community in leadership roles (general direction, cinematography direction, scriptwriting, art direction, editing) or that more than 60% of the entire production team is made up of people who identify as part of the community.

Music Video or Video Performance:

Music videos or video performances with a duration between 3 and 10 minutes that highlight queer/LGTBIQ+ experiences, aesthetics, or perspectives, with stories or themes that tell the life experiences of our community or those related to it. It is important that in the making of the music video or video performance, the team includes people who identify as part of the LGTBIQ+ community in leadership roles (general direction, cinematography direction, scriptwriting, art direction, editing) or that more than 60% of the entire production team is made up of people who identify as part of the community.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

Accepted formats: Digital
Minimum duration: 3 minutes
Maximum duration: 25 minutes
Spoken or subtitled in Spanish if Spanish is not the original language.

Must meet technical standards to ensure reproduction and projection on screen.

Completed or premiered after January 1, 2019.

Free registration through Festhome.

REGISTRATIONS

Registration deadline: Until October 10, 2024.

RECEIPT OF WORKS

Acceptance of the short film will be confirmed via email to the selected participants. The selected works will be announced in October 2024.

Selected participants must submit promotional material (posters, still photos, postcards, etc.).

The registration of a short film implies acceptance of the Festival's rules.

The organization reserves the right to suspend or modify the Festival if deemed necessary. If this happens, participants will be notified. The Ojo de Loca Short Film Festival will resolve at its discretion, and its decision will be final, any eventuality not specified in these regulations.

LICENSING

The Ojo de Loca Film Festival will conduct a maximum of three screenings of the selected shorts in a physical space with an audience during the festival days.

Time: These screenings will be held between November 7 and 17, 2024. The schedule will be announced in advance on the festival's social media.

Licensing mode: The use of the work will be allowed for reproduction, public communication, and making it available to the public for free access by users, through physical projection with an audience.

Similarly, I authorize the use of the film's information in different formats and media solely for advertising purposes related to the Ojo de Loca Short Film Festival.

Access type: Free access for users registered in the Ojo de Loca Short Film Festival.
The Ojo de Loca Film Festival is authorized to keep a copy of the short film and additional materials in its archive for research, preservation, and memory purposes.

The Ojo de Loca Film Festival is authorized to share the information of the short film, technical sheet, photographs, and poster on social media.

In case the Festival wishes to make cultural screenings at other times and places outside the Festival, direct communication will be made to sign these authorizations.
Indemnity: I agree to indemnify the directors of the Ojo de Loca Short Film Festival for this event, against any type of claim, demand, or litigation invoking the violation of copyright, image rights, related rights, fundamental rights, or any other kind in relation to the work and/or all of its components in their broadest terms.
JURY

The jury will be made up of national representatives from academic, audiovisual, artistic, and cultural fields chosen by the Festival Management, whose decisions regarding the awards will be final. The jury members will be announced to the registered participants in due course.

The Audience Award will be chosen through voting on the festival's social media channels during the event. The jury is free to award honorable mentions to other shorts if deemed necessary. The curatorial committee may decide not to open the competition for a particular category.

In addition to the competitive categories, there will be Decentralized Screenings and a Queer Historical Showcase to broaden the range of short films shown at the festival.
The official act with the results will be delivered at the closing ceremony of the festival. The awards will be given a week after the end of the festival via bank transfer. Winners must complete and sign a money receipt form.

SCREENINGS

Short films that are officially part of the Ojo de Loca Short Film Festival will be screened in the venues and auditoriums designated for the festival, at previously informed times. They may also be part of special screenings of the festival, held in other locations, dates, and times; the filmmakers will always be informed of such screenings.

The short films received will be part of the archive of the Ojo de Loca Short Film Festival, which will use them exclusively for cultural, educational, research, formative, and didactic activities without profit. These screenings outside the festival will be informed and require acceptance from the rights holders.

The selection committee may assign some of the films submitted for official selection to other sections or non-competitive parallel showcases.

On the day of the call results, the selection committee may declare a section in competition void.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

For submitting the project, the following technical specifications must be taken into account:

Video

File extension: .mov or .mp4.
Video Codec: H.264.
BitRate: between 12000 and 20000 Kbps (12 and 20 Mbps).
Recommended format: HD Video 1920x1080
subtitles: Embedded in the video (if in a language other than Spanish).
Audio

Audio Codec: MPEG-4 AAC / Stereo 44.1 KHz / 128 Kbps.

Photo of the Director.
Photo of the Producer.
Still Photo - Frame of the short film (Maximum 3, in good resolution, TIFF or JPG format).
Digital film poster (In good resolution, TIFF or JPG format).
Filming photos (Maximum 2, TIFF or JPG format, only if available).
Trailer or teaser of the submitted short film.
Technical data sheet (year of production, duration, names of the technical and artistic team).
Short synopsis.
Social media of the short film, if available.
Name and email contact.
