FECIUCH is a public university film festival that aims to promote audiovisual and cinematographic culture at a national level, valuing audiovisual works not only for their artistic and social content but also for their treatment of language, form, and critical perspective.

Through this festival, we seek to bring together a broad community of students, professors, and graduates, creating a university, artistic, diverse, and open space for the community. We want FECIUCH to be a space for exhibition, discussion, and development for the emerging voices and perspectives that are arising in university and educational spaces.

In our upcoming editions, we aim to expand to promote and support the development of works in various stages of production, as well as to serve as a bridge between university creation and the industry, with the goal of becoming the most important university film festival in Chile in the future.

UNIVERSITY OF CHILE FILM FESTIVAL
FECIUCH - 2024 - 2nd EDITION
RULES

1. The University of Chile Film Festival, or FECIUCH, is a university film festival that seeks to promote audiovisual and cinematic culture at the national level, valuing works for their artistic, social content and critical treatment of language and form. FECIUCH aims to gather a wide community of students, professors, and graduates from various film schools across the country, serving as an open meeting point for the exhibition, discussion, and development of emerging voices in university spaces.

2. DATES. The second edition of FECIUCH will take place from Monday, September 30 to Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Faculty of Communication and Image of the University of Chile, Ñuñoa district.

3. CALL FOR ENTRIES. In its second edition, FECIUCH will open calls for four competitive sections. Students and graduates of film, audiovisual, and animation-related programs from institutions across the national territory may apply.
- The works must have been produced in an academic context and by undergraduate students, which must be verified by attaching a certificate of regular student status or, failing that, a certificate issued by the institution.
- The works must not have been screened nationally or internationally before July 1, 2023, nor have been previously submitted to previous editions of FECIUCH.
- Works can be registered for free through the registration form or through the FECIUCH Festhome platform available on FECIUCH's social media until August 14, 2024, at 23:59, Chilean continental time.

4. SECTIONS. This year's sections are:
- Fiction Short Film: works with a minimum of 5 minutes and a maximum of 30 minutes.
- Non-fiction Short Film: works with a minimum of 5 minutes and a maximum of 30 minutes.
- Fiction Nanofilm: works with a maximum of 5 minutes.
- Non-fiction Nanofilm: works with a maximum of 5 minutes.

5. PROGRAMMING. A programming team composed of students, academics, and graduates of the University will screen and select the works that will compete in the sections. The selection will be announced internally to the applicants and then publicly communicated during the first week of September.

6. JURY AND AWARDS. Each section will have a jury of three people. These will be composed of students, graduates, and academics from the University of Chile, as well as external individuals from the film industry.
- The juries will watch the works and award a Best Short Film or Nanofilm Prize in their section. The jury may also decide to award a Jury Prize if deemed necessary.
- An Audience Award for Best Nanofilm and an Audience Award for Best Short Film will be given. To decide, mini-ballots will be handed out at the in-person screenings where viewers can vote for their favorite short film and nanofilm. The nanofilm and short film with the most votes will win this award.
- Invitations will be extended to the 13 schools that make up the University Film and Audiovisual Network to form a RUCA Jury, consisting of one representative per school (from their academic or staff bodies). At the closing ceremony, the jury will award a RUCA Prize for Best Short Film from all the short films selected at FECIUCH.

7. Registering a work implies full acceptance of the rules and authorizes the screening of the work during the festival if selected in one of the competitive sections, and authorization for a possible screening in 2025 that includes the winning works of the second edition of FECIUCH. If the work is selected, registration also authorizes the use of stills and extracts for advertising and promotional purposes.

8. If the work is submitted from the Metropolitan Region and is selected in the competitive sections of FECIUCH, at least one representative of each work is requested to be present at the screening of the work and the festival's closing ceremony.

9. REGISTRATION MATERIALS. In the registration form, each applicant must attach:
- 3 high-resolution stills from the work, as well as one (1) high-resolution photo of the director(s) of the work, which must be a front medium shot.
- A private or unlisted YouTube or Vimeo link, which must be available for viewing until October 2024.

- Minimum resolution of 1920x1080 pixels.
- Subtitled in Spanish, with subtitles attached in SRT format.

11. Any inquiries can be made to the email contactofeciuch@gmail.com.
