The Women's and Diversity Film Festival (FESTMYD), funded by the Audiovisual Promotion Fund through the Festival Programming modality with regional showcases in the 2025 call of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Heritage, will celebrate its fifth edition this year.
The main goal of the festival is to give visibility to and promote national and international films with a gender perspective, directed by Latin American women filmmakers (cis/trans), trans men or transmasculine individuals, non-binary people, fluid gender, or intersex individuals.
This year, FESTMYD will take place in person in the regions of Coquimbo and Valparaíso, connecting movie theaters, cultural centers, educational institutions, social organizations, and film and audiovisual schools.

The juries will grant the following distinctions for both the Latin American Feature Film category and the Regional Short Film category:

The following mentions will be recognized with a laurel and a diploma:

5th WOMEN AND DIVERSITIES FILM FESTIVAL
Call for Entries 2025
DATE AND VENUE
FESTMYD 5th will take place from October 3rd to November 7th, 2025, opening in the municipality of Ovalle and closing in Valparaíso.
The competition categories [Regional Short Films and Latin American Feature Films] will include screenings at the Insomnia Room of the Condell Theatre in Valparaíso, during the first week of November.
The Festival reserves the right to change the venues and dates mentioned, if deemed necessary for the proper execution of the project.
COMPETITION CATEGORIES
A. LATIN AMERICAN FEATURE FILM COMPETITION
Fiction, documentary, experimental, and/or animation works, either spoken or subtitled in Spanish, produced in Latin America, directed by Latin American women filmmakers (cis/trans), gender-diverse individuals (non-binary, fluid gender, and trans men), and intersex people, are eligible to participate.
Both premiered and non-premiered films are eligible, whether shown in commercial or alternative theaters or on digital platforms. The films must have been completed from 2023 onwards, with a minimum duration of 60 minutes and a maximum of 120 minutes, including credits.
B. REGIONAL SHORT FILM COMPETITION
This competition is open to fiction, documentary, experimental, and/or animated works produced in the regions of Chile, and directed by national and foreign filmmakers who have permanent residence in Chile. Eligible filmmakers include women (cis/trans), gender-diverse individuals (non-binary, fluid gender, and trans men), and intersex people.
Films must be developed on any kind of support from 2023 onwards, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes, including credits.
APPLICATION AND RESULTS DATES
The submission and reception of works will begin with the release of these guidelines and continue until August 31st, 2025. The submission period may be extended if the Festival organization decides so, with the extension being announced through the appropriate communication channels.
The works received for competition in the different categories will undergo a pre-selection process by the Festival’s programming and direction team.
A maximum of 6 works will be selected for the Latin American Feature Film Competition and 8 for the Regional Short Film Competition.
Filmmakers whose works are selected will be notified via email.
Those whose works are not selected will also be informed by email.
The results of the Official Selection will be announced at the end of September 2025.
REGISTRATION AND SUBMISSION OF PRE-SELECTION COPIES
Participants can submit their entries through the registration form available on our social media and website, or through the Festival's Festhome platform.
All works, whether feature films or short films, must include a viewing link, which should remain active until the final selection is completed (late September 2025). We recommend checking the copy to ensure proper viewing.
The registration form will require the following materials, in addition to the film information:
Official poster (if available)
3 stills from the film
1 photograph of the director or directing team
GENERAL PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS
Once a work is selected for the Official Selection, it cannot be withdrawn from competition.
By accepting these terms, and upon being selected, the film will be committed to subsequent screenings after the Festival. The Festival may hold one screening of the work at no cost, with prior coordination and authorization from the relevant parties. The screening will aim to develop new audience strategies and will be free of charge.
Submitting a film to this call for entries implies full acceptance of these rules. Additionally, the signatory grants permission for the public dissemination of the film during the Festival for promotional purposes, in accordance with the Intellectual Property Law 17.336.
If the applicant declares that their project includes or involves the use of works protected by national or international intellectual property law, they must obtain express authorization from the rights holders. The Festival is not responsible for legal procedures that may arise from non-compliance with the relevant laws.

PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS: FESTMYD 2025 OFFICIAL SELECTION
Selected works must send a link to a DRIVE folder via email, containing the following items:
Technical sheet, including:
Director and team members
Cast
Genre
Format
Duration
Country or region of production or co-productions
Three (3) stills from the film (JPG format, RGB color, 150 or 300 dpi)
Social media of the film (if unavailable, the director's or production company’s social media)
Trailer or film excerpt, in the following format:
Codec H264
Container: mp4
HD or Full HD resolution
Maximum length: 1 minute, minimum 30 seconds (should not exceed 200MB, with subtitles in an .srt file if available)
If no trailer is available, a scene of up to 1 minute may be submitted.
A photo of the director or team, in:
JPG format
RGB color
150 or 300 dpi
Aspect ratio 1:1
The Festival reserves the right to request additional materials from the selected filmmakers if necessary for promotional purposes.
The clear and organized submission of these materials will allow the Festival to optimally promote each work and its creators.

SELECTED WORKS
If a film is selected, the person responsible for the submission must send the exhibition material to the Festival Programming team via a download link, which must remain active until the material is confirmed as received in full. If the film is available in DCP, prior notification is required to coordinate with the screening venue. Any costs associated with sending physical materials will be the responsibility of the participants.

Annex: It is recommended to provide Spanish subtitles for accessibility, in .srt, .stl, or .xml format.
JURIES
There will be two juries: one for the Latin American Feature Film competition, made up of prominent figures from the audiovisual, arts, and national culture sectors, and another for the regional works competition, formed by local filmmakers and members of territorial alliances designated exclusively by the Festival organization.
Creators directly related to the competing works are ineligible to be part of the jury.
The decision of the jury is final.
The Festival reserves the right to include additional jurors, either from the film and art world or from other fields, including social organizations or other popular entities.
The Festival reserves the right to declare certain awards void if the jury so decides.
OTHER INFORMATION
Applicants, agents, and/or distributors of works that receive awards/distinctions are required to highlight these achievements in all publicity and press materials, using the Festival’s logo and recognition.
