The Raul Ruiz School Film Festival has been progressively positioned in its three previous versions as the first experimental school film festival in the country, with an increasing reach in different regions of the country. This is a positive indicator of the impact that this initiative has had. In this sense, the described initiative has become a recognized window of diffusion for school cinematographic art. In addition, the possibilities of artistic exploration that the festival suggests through its categories and evaluation criteria have enabled the production teams to investigate and experiment with different film languages. In this sense, the new challenges that the festival offers in its third version are, on the one hand, to continue and strengthen the diffusion and appreciation of school cinema and, on the other, to advance in aesthetic reflection and exploration, as integral contributions to education, with an emphasis on creativity, the generation of projects and the experimentation of artistic languages.

This is why the IV Raul Ruiz School Film Festival is an opportunity to broaden the creative horizons of the diffusion of art and audiovisual culture in educational communities, promoting a creative framework through instances that aim to improve the quality of artistic teaching and to address the interests, social, cultural and economic contributions of the communities.

UNESCO is clear in pointing out that the objectives of development and improvement in the quality of education must be accompanied by a substantial change in the area of ​​social development of the establishments. Educational improvement projects (PME) cannot always advance comprehensively towards the financing of instances for the diffusion, appreciation and creation of inter-school artistic projects.

In accordance with the achievement of these objectives, the Festival in its previous versions has been adding relevant actors from the educational and academic community. Today we are supported by the Schools to Film program of the Cineteca Nacional and the Sarmiento Ruiz Archive (letters of support are attached). Those who have joined have opened and strongly promoted the possibilities of this festival at a national level and with a strong content in experimentation, creativity and collaborative work in the field of learning for girls, boys and adolescents.

In this sense, the prospects have been auspicious, having as a background that in the first and second version we have been accompanied by the application of more than 80 films from all over Chile and the world.

Awards and Mentions
Each category will award:

1st Prize: Specialized film books

2nd Prize: Smartphone filmmaking kit

3rd Prize: Intensive training in DaVinci Resolve software

Honorable mentions will also be given for originality, language, and aesthetic proposal.

Bases V Festival de Cine Escolar Raúl Ruiz 2025
La ONG Acción Intercultural y el Liceo Artístico Guillermo Gronemeyer organizan el 5° Festival de Cine Escolar Raúl Ruiz, que convoca a tod@s l@s estudiantes de nuestro país a participar con sus piezas cinematográficas.

Objetivos
Desarrollar el interés, conocimiento y experimentación en el cine y su lenguaje, a través de la creación y visionado estudiantil.

Fomentar el desarrollo de un público crítico de lo que observa y propositivo frente a lo que lo rodea.

Generar un espacio para la creación y exhibición de obras audiovisuales de estudiantes secundarios del país, y fundamentalmente sus expresiones experimentales.

Generar una ventana de difusión de cine escolar experimental que indague en temáticas contingentes, a través de la mirada de jóvenes estudiantes del país, promoviendo la reflexión y el diálogo sobre la realidad contemporánea.

Fechas
El V Festival de Cine Escolar Raúl Ruiz se realizará en formato presencial los días 5 y 6 de noviembre de 2025.

La recepción de cortometrajes estará abierta hasta el 24 de octubre de 2025 a las 23:59 hrs (hora de Chile).


Requisitos de participación

El equipo realizador deberá estar conformado por estudiantes que estén cursando desde 5° año básico a 4° año medio, pertenecientes a cualquier institución educacional del país.

En el caso de la categoría Philokinetes, l@s estudiantes deberán acreditar estar cursando 1° o 2° año de educación universitaria (escuelas de cine, artes visuales, comunicación audiovisual, animación o carreras afines).

Categorías en competencia

Se aceptarán documentales, animaciones, ficciones, piezas de videoarte o videodanza, y películas de cualquier género o subgénero cinematográfico.
L@s postulantes deberán inscribir su obra en una de las siguientes cuatro categorías:

Competencia Cuerpo

Obras que sitúan al cuerpo como eje central: físico, sensorial, simbólico o político. Se incluyen temáticas como performance, derechos humanos, disidencias, body art, prácticas deportivas, videoarte, videodanza y más.

Competencia Memoria y Territorio

Piezas sobre identidades locales, medio ambiente, patrimonio, pueblos originarios, historias de vida, mitos, cultura popular o archivos.

Competencia Juegos

Propuestas que experimenten con estructuras lúdicas, juegos visuales, acertijos, refranes, videojuegos o entornos virtuales como relato.

Competencia Philokinetes (nueva categoría)

Dirigida a estudiantes de 1° y 2° año de carreras afines al cine y lo audiovisual. Categoría de temática libre, con fuerte énfasis experimental.

Se valorará el manejo creativo del lenguaje y formato cinematográfico como medio de exploración. Inspirada en las ideas de Raúl Ruiz, busca obras que exploren el cine como territorio onírico, especulativo, fragmentario y poético.

Las obras pueden vincularse a las otras categorías, pero deben tener una aproximación estética libre e innovadora.

Duración permitida

Cortometrajes escolares: máximo 10 minutos, incluyendo créditos.

Cortometrajes Philokinetes: máximo 20 minutos, incluyendo créditos.

Premios y menciones
Cada categoría premiará:

1er lugar: Libros especializados en cine

2do lugar: Equipo de cine para smartphone

3er lugar: Capacitación intensiva en software DaVinci Resolve

También se entregarán menciones honrosas por originalidad, lenguaje y propuesta estética.
