At the Villa de Orgaz Film Festival we are happy to tell you that we are going to start our first edition in the town of Orgaz (Toledo), giving shape to our illusion of being able to bring Culture closer to emptied Spain, and to be able to give to also get to know those young directors and actors.
The Festival will be held on the last weekend of February, with two viewing days and on the last day, awards ceremony and Closing Gala at the Auditorium of the Town.
RULES OF THE OFFICIAL SECTION OF THE
SHORT FILM COMPETITION 2023
1. Participation
All international producers and directors of short films are eligible to participate, with no age limit.
Short films of any production format can participate.
The festival will be held on 03-04-05 March 2023.
2. Conditions
Each participant may submit a maximum of two works, and they must have been produced after 1st January 2021.
The duration may not exceed 15 minutes.
Works that do not technically guarantee a correct projection will be rejected.
The Festival assumes that the owners of the short films presented hold the exhibition and promotion rights over the works and material they represent and declines any responsibility for any infringement of this rule.
The productions not shot in Spanish must present their works with the corresponding subtitles in Spanish for their screening at the Festival.
3. Registration
The registration period will be from October 1st, 2022 to January 17th, 2023. The registration must be done in the following way:

The participants authorise the organisation to use extracts from the films for broadcasting in any media, in order to promote the festival, as well as the use of photographs of the films as publicity in the press and other media.
4. Selection
A total of four films will be selected from among all the films received.
The selection of the films will be carried out by a committee of the organisation, under strict quality criteria.
The result of the selection will be made public on 19-January -2023.
The decision of the selection committee is final.
The selected films must be submitted. In the following format:
-Codec: H.264 - Resolution: 1920 x 1080 - Fps: 25p
The festival will also assume the return of the projection copies (pen-drives, hard disks or optical supports), only when they are sent within the national territory.
Selected films will have to pay the corresponding fee of 15 € in order to participate in the festival.
The selected films will be screened in public sessions in the designated place, at the times and on the dates that appear in the official programme of the festival or, where appropriate, as arranged by the festival organisers.
5. Jury
The Official Jury, made up of professionals of recognised experience in the field of culture, will be responsible for awarding the prizes.
The Jury may declare the categories it deems appropriate to be void, due to lack of quality or absence of works presented, or award prizes ex aequo, and its decisions shall be final.
The prizes will be awarded on the day of the Gala Awards Ceremony in the town of Orgaz, on 4 March 2023.
The organisation would like to thank the representatives of each short film for their presence.
The audience present during the screenings will award the prize to the best short film, by means of a ballot paper to be filled in after each screening session. The decision of the audience is final.
6. Prizes
All nominees will receive a diploma.
After the screening of all the films, each of the winning short films will be awarded with a statuette created for the occasion and:
- Villa de Orgaz Award - 300€ and a statuette.
- Audience Award for the Best Social Short Film - Statuette and Diploma
- Jury Prize for the best Actor - Endowed with a Statuette and 250 €.
- Jury Award for Best Actress- Statuette and 250 €.
- Prize for the best short film from Castilla La Mancha- Statuette and 200 €.
-Caja Rural Prize for the Best Humour Short Film - Statuette
7. Acceptance of the rules
The inscription implies the acceptance of these rules and the decisions of the organization, selection committee and jury of the festival. Any question not foreseen in the rules will be solved by the organisation of the festival.
General conditions
- Copies of non-selected films will become part of the festival's audiovisual archive and may be used, with prior notification to the producer, for exhibition at events parallel to the festival.
The producer may completely refuse this exhibition.
- The festival may organise different informative sections, with the prior notification and authorisation of the producer, with the non-nominated short films, parallel to the Official Section.
- The producers of the selected short films authorise the use of a fragment of the works (maximum three minutes), to be broadcast as informative material in any media, including the Internet.
- The date and place may be modified by the organisation, which will be communicated to the interested parties with sufficient time in advance.
- The organisers reserve the right to modify some of these rules and to interpret them in case of doubt. The decisions taken by the organisers shall be final.
- If the festival is delayed or cancelled for reasons beyond the control of the organisers, participants will not be entitled to any compensation, but their work will remain pending to compete in the festival as soon as normality is restored. Participation in this Festival implies acceptance of these rules.
