The Films 26 Festival – ALCE Awards is a short film competition that celebrates emerging talent and creativity in short-form cinema. Running from May 2 to October 18, 2026, the festival brings together creators, industry professionals, and the public in a space where stories—told in just a few minutes—make a powerful impact.

Through screenings, gatherings, and various activities, the ALCE Awards recognize excellence across the different disciplines of short filmmaking, showcasing new voices and championing narrative and visual innovation.

The festival was founded with the aim of bringing cinema closer to the public and serving as a meeting point for the industry and the audience, highlighting the power of the short film format to move, surprise, and provoke reflection.

Films on the Road Award: An award consisting of 4 months of free distribution to national and international film festivals, valued at €450.

SHORT FILM FESTIVAL RULES

Alce Awards 2026

1. OBJECTIVE

The Alce Awards 2026 is a short film festival established to promote and disseminate independent cinema, providing visibility to new talent and creating a meeting point between audiovisual industry professionals and the public.

2. PARTICIPATION

Participation is open to individuals or legal entities of any nationality who hold the rights to the submitted works.

3. SHORT FILM REQUIREMENTS

• Maximum duration: 20 minutes (including credits).

• Genre: Open.

• Language: Original version. If not in Spanish or Catalan, subtitles must be included.

• Production year: 2024 or later.

• Works containing offensive or discriminatory material, or those that violate fundamental rights, will not be accepted.

4. REGISTRATION

• Each participant may submit more than one work.

5. SELECTION

A selection committee appointed by the organizers will evaluate the submitted works and choose the short films that will form part of the official selection.

Selected filmmakers will be notified via email.

6. SCREENING

Selected works will be screened on October 18, 2026, at the Teatre Alegria in Terrassa, as part of the festival's official program.

Participants authorize the public screening of their works exclusively during this session.

7. JURY

The jury will be composed of professionals from the audiovisual and cultural sectors. Their decision will be final.

The Audience Award will be determined by a vote from attendees during the screening event.

8. AWARDS CEREMONY

The awards ceremony will take place on October 18, 2026, in Terrassa.

The screening of selected short films will be held on October 17; during this event, the audience will vote for the Audience Award winner from among the nominees. The awards will be presented along with their corresponding statuettes.


9. EXHIBITION RIGHTS

The creators grant the screening rights for the selected works exclusively for exhibition within the festival.

The organizers may use excerpts from the works (max. 1 minute) for promotional purposes on social media, websites, or in the media.


10. ACCEPTANCE OF RULES

Participation in the festival implies full acceptance of these rules.
