The International Animal and Environmental Film Festival of Mexico City (FICAA) welcomes you to its 7th Edition, where, as every year, we accept films from all five continents.
The mission of the Festival is to promote values, causes, and activist struggles through Art, opening multiple opportunities to showcase the work of outstanding filmmakers. Throughout the year, we host various cultural events and film discussions in partnership with the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), UAM, ENAC–UNAM, and governmental cultural spaces that open their doors to support this dissemination.
Winning films that accept the terms and conditions will be hosted for one month on IMCINE’s platform “Nuestro Cine MX”, providing nationwide exposure throughout Mexico.

Awards and Recognition
As a festival driven by Animal and Environmental awareness, and with this year’s invited cause being “Cinema: Freedom of Belief, Extraterrestrials, and Conspiracy Theories”, all submitted projects will receive a Participation Laurel, recognizing the artistic value and work of each film, even if they are not selected for the final screening program. Official Selection films will receive an Official Selection Laurel.
Final winners will receive the FICAA 2026 statuette, along with digital laurels and a digital diploma.
The final awards ceremony takes place in December, welcoming guests from different countries and regions of Mexico to receive their statuettes in person.
The First Place in each category receives the Official FICAA Statuette.
The Second and Third Place winners receive a digital certificate and digital laurels.
Important:
The delivery of the FICAA statuettes takes place exclusively on the awards ceremony day, as each statuette is produced with prior planning and customized with the director’s name and the film’s title.
At FICAA, every award is personalized.
1. Call for Entries
The International Animal and Environmental Film Festival (FICAA) invites producers and filmmakers from Mexico and around the world to submit their films.
The submission period will take place from December 19, 2025, to September 10, 2026.
2. Evaluation Criteria
All categories will be evaluated across different criteria, including National, International, Budget Level, Amateur, Student, and Professional, among others.
Additionally, there will be specific divisions that may include awards for Directing, Producing, Cinematography, Storytelling, and other areas, at the discretion of the jury.
3. Invited Cause 2026
This year’s Invited Cause is “Cinema: Freedom of Belief, Extraterrestrials, and Conspiracy Theories.”
Films addressing these themes will also be accepted as part of the FICAA 2026 program.
4. Jury Decisions
The jury may grant awards or Special Mentions in situations determined by the jury committee.
5. awards Ceremony Attendance
If winners are unable to attend the awards ceremony, their Winner Laurels (if applicable) will be sent digitally by email.
The Official FICAA Statuette is delivered exclusively on the day of the awards ceremony.
If seats are requested for the event and the winners do not attend, they risk losing their laurel and automatically forfeiting their category.
This policy exists because all statuettes are custom engraved with the director’s name and the film title.
We do not ship statuettes afterward, nor do we deliver them at offices.
6. Communication Responsibility
Participants must regularly check the email address registered on the submission platform for announcements and instructions.
The Festival is not responsible for missed communications, failure to follow instructions, or missing materials related to screenings or awards due to lack of response.
7. Additional Communication Channel
Once participants begin receiving official emails, they will also be provided with the Festival’s WhatsApp contact to ensure timely communication regarding closing dates and awards information.
8. Additional Statuettes
If a winning production requires an additional statuette, this is possible but subject to an extra cost.
