The International Animal and Environmental Film Festival (FICAA) of Mexico City welcomes you to its 6th Edition, where, as every year, we accept films from all five continents.
Our mission at the Festival is to promote values, causes, and activist struggles through Art, opening various windows of opportunity to showcase the work of talented filmmakers. Throughout the year, we host a variety of cultural events, including Film Debates in partnership with the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (National Polytechnic Institute), Mobile Cinema, and collaborations with government spaces that open their doors for this dissemination.
Winners who accept the terms will have their films featured for one month on IMCINE’s platform “Nuestro Cine MX,” granting them nationwide exposure.
The three themes for this year are:
ANIMAL
ENVIRONMENTAL
FEMINIST CINEMA
We will accept:
Animations
Short Films
Feature Films
Documentaries
Microfilms
Music Videos
As a festival dedicated to raising awareness about Animal and Environmental issues, with this year’s invited cause being "Feminist Cinema," all projects will receive a participation laurel recognizing the art and effort involved, even if they are not part of the final showcase. Additionally, the Official Selection will receive an Official Selection laurel and a diploma sent via email.
Final winners will receive the FICAA 2025 trophy, along with digital laurels and a diploma.
The awards ceremony will take place in December, where guests from various countries and regions of Mexico will gather to collect their statuettes.
The first-place winner in each category will receive the Official Statuette. The second and third-place winners will receive their certificate and laurels digitally.
Important:
The statuettes are only presented on the day of the awards ceremony, as they are custom-ordered and personalized with the director's name and the film's title. At FICAA, everything is personalized.
The International Animal and Environmental Film Festival invites producers and filmmakers from Mexico and around the world to submit their films. The submission period will be from January 10, 2025, to September 15, 2025.
All categories will be evaluated at both National and International levels.
This year’s invited cause is "Feminist Cinema," meaning films addressing this theme will also be accepted in the 2025 edition.
The jury may grant awards or special mentions in exceptional cases.
The statuette is only handed out on the day of the ceremony and cannot be delivered at a later date, especially if attendance is confirmed but the participant fails to attend the main event. NO STATUETTE WILL BE SENT POST-EVENT.
Participants must always monitor the email address registered on the platform for announcements and instructions. Failure to do so may result in missing important details about awards and screenings.
Once participants begin receiving emails, the Festival will also share a WhatsApp contact for additional updates regarding the closing ceremony and awards.
If a production wins and requires an additional trophy for the production team, this can be arranged at an additional cost.
The categories are as follows:
Short Film (1 minute - 29 minutes)
Feature Film (30 minutes and over)
Animated Short (1 minute - 29 minutes)
Animated Feature (30 minutes and over)

Online Showcase: Films will be hosted on an online platform for up to one month, ensuring they can still compete in other festivals.
The categories will be divided into National and International, with different laurels awarded as follows:
Laurel Winner: Supreme winner of the category

Laurel Official Selection: Awarded to the finalists of the Festival
