The Puerto Madryn MAFICI International Film Festival has been held for 14 years and is one of the most important Festivals in Latin America, which takes place in the Argentine Patagonia.

The objective of the Festival is to provide the possibility of screening national and foreign films both feature films and short films and thus generate a meeting space and diffusion of the cinema, from a corner of the Argentine Patagonia.

The Festival will reward the First Movies to Argentine and foreign filmmakers, with the "Southern Right Whale" award, in addition to the different awards of the Official Section in Competition.

MAFICI proposes from its beginnings, reward and promote the new directors of the world, announcing his first cinematographic work, being the only Argentine Festival with this unique peculiarity.

On the other hand, we intend to encourage the development of the film industry, care of the Environment and contribute to the tourist, cultural potential that our beautiful city of Puerto Madryn.

Each of the sections in Competition will receive a digital Diploma.

The jury may grant special mentions, (they have no prize in money), as it deems appropriate.

The film associations that will participate will deliver prizes and / or mentions to be confirmed.

ARTICLE 1: Objectives
The objective of the Festival is to offer the possibility of screening national and foreign films
both feature films and short films and in this way generate a space for meeting and
dissemination of cinema, from a corner of Argentine Patagonia.
The Festival will award PRIME FICTION OPERAS to Argentine and foreign filmmakers, with the “Southern Right Whale” award, in addition to the different recognitions of the Official Competition Section.
Since its inception, MAFICI has proposed to reward and promote the world's new directors,
making known his first cinematographic work, being the only Argentine Festival with this unique feature.
On the other hand, we propose to promote the development of the film industry, care for the environment and contribute to the Tourist and Cultural potential that our city of Puerto Madryn has.

ARTICLE 2: Date of completion and sections
The Fourteenth edition of the Puerto Madryn MAFICI International Film Festival will take place from October 23 to 30, 2026 in person in the available spaces and screening rooms and online through the MAFICITV own exhibition platform as listed in article 8.

-Official Section in Competition
* OPERA PRIMA (Fiction only) “Ballena Franca Austral” Award.
*Environmental documentary -National and international feature films with environmental themes.
* Animation, Fiction and Documentary Short Films (up to 15 minutes).

-Out of Competition Section:
*International Panorama (Feature films only)
*Panorama Patagonia (realizations produced in Argentine Patagonia).
*Women in focus (Sample of feature films and short films).
*Argentine Panorama - Sample of feature films (No First Films).
*Mini MAFICI (sample of animated shorts for the little ones)

ARTICLE 3: Registration
Registration is carried out only through Festhome platform.
The registration cost for Argentine short films is 5 USD and for Argentine feature films it is 10 USD. In the case of International Feature Films the cost will be 10 USD for short films and 20 USD for Feature Films, (each platform may or may not charge depending on the membership for its use.)
The works submitted for competition, both Feature Films and Short Films, must be from films completed from JANUARY 2025 onwards.

ARTICLE 4: Date of receipt
The material will be received until June 1, 2026 inclusive. The festival may decide whether to extend the call or not if necessary.

ARTICLE 5: General information
a) All productions (Feature films and Shorts must be spoken in Spanish with English subtitles, if they are in another language they must necessarily have Spanish subtitles). If you do not meet these requirements you will not be selected.
b) The duration of the shorts (Including credit titles) may be up to 15 minutes.
c) Once a film is scheduled, it cannot be withdrawn from the Festival.
d) The Festival organization will establish the order, date and virtual exhibition room or space for each selected film.
e) If a film or short is selected, the organizers will notify the person responsible, who must send, within the requested time, the materials requested for dissemination within the framework of the Festival.
f) MAFICI Festival may use fragments of the works selected for dissemination in this and future editions, in the media without the right to receive any amount derived from this use by the author.

g) Those achievements that have been sent in the previous edition and were not selected will not be able to participate.
h) The First Feature, short films and works that receive awards or distinctions may be part of MAFICI 2026/2027 Itinerant.

i) Each of the winners of the Competition sections will receive a digital Diploma. The jury may award special mentions (they do not have a monetary prize), as it deems appropriate.
j) The material sent to MAFICI for pre-selection must be exclusive and cannot participate or have participated in another Festival in the PROVINCE OF CHUBUT during the current year.
k) The team of programmers reserves the right to select the films to be programmed in the Festival, to place them in the sections, competitive or not, when sending the material.
L) The festival is held with free admission, so by sending the material you accept the bases and conditions, understanding that no FEE payment is provided by the organization.
The film associations that will participate will present awards and/or mentions to be confirmed.

ARTICLE 6: Selection and additional material
The films and short films selected to participate in competition and exhibitions must send the material in a timely manner via email to maficifestival@gmail.com when the festival requests it.
Title, Year, Director, Country, Cast, Rating: ATP, SAM13 or SAM18, Synopsis: Maximum 200 characters with spaces, Category: (Fiction, Documentary or Animation), 3 Photographs of the film in digital format 300 dpi, Trailer Link (if available), Poster/poster of the film

All promotional material will be used for advertising, press and communication on networks.

ARTICLE 7: DISSEMINATION
The producers, distributors and directors of those First Works, films and Shorts that remain
selected and/or are winners, assume the commitment to include in all their advertising and press material the phrase "Official Selection of the Puerto Madryn MAFICI 2026 International Film Festival", using the Festival logo. This commitment applies to both commercial releases in movie theaters and on video on demand platforms.
The feature films and short films that remain in Official Competition and Panoramas must include the laurels in the posters/flyers for distribution. (will be provided by the MAFICI organization)

ARTICLE 8: MODALITY
The Fourteenth edition of MAFICI will have an in-person and virtual Festival format on its own MAFICI TV platform.
Much of the programming will be hosted on the online platform, short films, documentaries and out-of-competition sections (Women in Focus and Panoramas).
The team of programmers will opportunely define the films in the First Films competition that will be screened in special screenings.
In the case of virtual screenings on the platform, they will be available for free and only in Argentine territory during the days of the festival.
The festival may change or modify the date of the festival if it considers it necessary.

ARTICLE 9: Acceptance of bases
Participation and Registration in the Puerto Madryn International Film Festival MAFICI 2026 implies acceptance by the interested parties of these Regulations.
