Torremolinos International Fantastic Film Festival has become in a few years in one the most important events at Costa del Sol (Spain). Place in the Torremolinos' exhibition and conference centre: theaters with 240 and 460 people capacity. Organized by the Cultural Association "Cinefans", the festival it's now a reference of innovate and transgresive ideas. It starts at Halloween (with its own Halloween night) and it includes galas, shows, horror movies marathons, charitable sessions, guests and honored films for their anniversary.

• Best animation short film: diploma (no financial prize).

• Best director: diploma (no financial prize).
• Best screenplay: diploma (no financial prize).
• Best actor: diploma (no financial prize).
• Best actress: diploma (no financial prize).

• First prize for the best feature film: trophy or plaque (no financial prize).

It is possible to have a draw, in which case the prize amount will be shared between the winners.


No special mentions (for feature or short films) will receive any economic amount, only a diploma.


Prize payments will be made solely by bank transfer, and trophies and diplomas will be sent through the company CORREOS SPAIN (and not using companies). All this will take place between march and july 2019, inclusive.

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR SHORT AND FEATURE FILMS
7th TORREMOLINOS FANTASTIC FILM FESTIVAL


1. The seventh edition of the Torremolinos fantastic festival is organized by the Cultural Association “Cinefans” from 20th to 28th October 2018.

2. The registration date is from 27th march to 29th july 2018.

3. Only the following films may be entered:

• Feature films shot between 2015 and 2018 (both years inclusive), which have not been shown at the festival in previous years, lasting between 60 and 130 minutes (including credits).

• Short films shot between 2016 and 2018 (both years inclusive), which have not been shown at the festival in previous years, lasting no longer than 16 minutes (including credits). Short films lasting longer than 16 minutes can be shown, but may not be entered in the competition.

4. The person that registers the film for the festival declares that they are over 18 years of age, are doing so of their own free will, that they accept these rules and regulations and that they have the consent of the owner or owning company of the distribution/exhibition rights for Spain (and, specifically, for the province of Malaga), and, on registering the film for the festival, they give their consent and transfer the work for it to be screened/exhibited during the 7th Torremolinos Fantastic Film Festival and may not withdraw it once it has been registered. If a legal issue or a matter involving any other irregularities/doubts should arise, the liable person will always be the person that registers the film and not the event organisers, and the following persons are always exempt from all liabilities and irregularities: Torremolinos Fantastic Film Festival, Cultural Association “Cinefans”, Torremolinos Council, festival venues, and all of their members, collaborators and sponsoring and collaborating companies/institutions.

5. The date of registration is shown when a film is registered on the platform. In the event a company/individual should acquire the exhibition/distribution rights for Spain or Europe of the said film after the person registering the feature/short film has registered it on the platform, the festival will not become involved, in no event will it act as an agent, nor will it negotiate cancellations, new conditions or film prices with the new company. This means, in the said event, the festival will continue to freely exhibit the film and the person who initially registered the film will be legally liable, in application of points 4 and 6, which is the case for all films registered.

6. The festival will not pay the person that registers the film or any other film owner/agent/representative/owning company that may claim payment, any fees, taxes, premiums, commissions, delivery/return costs, or payment for film exhibition/screening rights, for any film registered, regardless of the section of the festival in which it is entered.

7. The final copy must not include watermarks, countdowns, time markers or any other types of mark typical of screener copies. They are to be sent solely and exclusively by Internet: either through the registration platforms themselves (if permitted) or through a website like WeTransfer, Filemail, Dropbox, Vimeo, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc. before 30th september 2018.

8. We will not accept final copies in 2K or 4K. Its resolution will be DVD, 720p or 1080p. The final copy will be sent in a single file type MOV, MP4, MPEG, AVI, MKV or VOB. The maximum size of the final copy will be 1.5GB for short films and 12GB for feature films.

9. If there is no option but to send CDs, DVDs, Blu-Rays, DCPs, pendrives or hard drives, these will not be returned or sent on to their authors, editors, producers, the person that registers them or distributors. This also applies to any other promotional items (posters, flyers, roll-up banners, backdrops, cardboard cut-outs, lobby cards, etc.). The festival organisers will select the feature and short films and will submit a request to the platforms to report on the status of all registrations on 10 September 2018. The festival will not be required to directly contact those chosen to notify them of their selection. If, by 10 September, you have not received any response, please contact the platforms to ensure no error has occurred there.

10. In the event the film was not made in the Spanish language (Castilian Spanish), the screener copy registered on the platforms and the final copy must include Spanish (Castilian Spanish) or English subtitles; the subtitles may be sent in a separate file up until 15 days after registering the film, to the email: info@torremolinos-fantastico.com. Failure to do this will lead to the film being automatically rejected.

11. The subject-matter of the film must be fictional and include fantastic content: suspense/intrigue/thriller, horror, gore, action, film noir, fantasy, adventure, epic, science fiction, futuristic, comic, superheroes, martial arts, black humour or animation. Works of video art, experimental works, documentaries, fake trailers and video clips will not be accepted.


12. Several prizes will be awarded at the 2018 edition:

For short films:
• Best short film 2018: €500 + trophy or plaque
• Best short film from Malaga 2018: €500 + trophy or plaque
• Audience award: €200 + trophy or plaque
• Best horror short film: diploma (no financial prize).
• Best animation short film: diploma (no financial prize).
• Best fantasy short film: diploma (no financial prize).
• Best director: diploma (no financial prize).
• Best screenplay: diploma (no financial prize).
• Best actor: diploma (no financial prize).
• Best actress: diploma (no financial prize).
• Best special effects: diploma (no financial prize).
• Best cinematography: diploma (no financial prize).


For feature films (no financial prizes):
• First prize for the best feature film: trophy or plaque (no financial prize).
• Second prize for the best feature film: trophy or plaque (no financial prize).
• Best director: trophy or plaque (no financial prize).
• Best screenplay: diploma (no financial prize).
• Best actor: trophy or plaque (no financial prize).
• Best actress: trophy or plaque (no financial prize).
• Best special effects: diploma (no financial prize).
• Best cinematography: diploma (no financial prize).
• Audience award: diploma (no financial prize).
• First prize at “Pearls premieres” section: diploma (no financial prize).
• Second prize at “Pearls premieres” section: diploma (no financial prize).
• First prize at “Midnight sessions” section: diploma (no financial prize).
• Second prize at “Midnight sessions” section: diploma (no financial prize).

It is possible to have a draw, in which case the prize amount will be shared between the winners.
Furthermore, the festival may award a further series of prizes (such as homages, retrospective prizes, "Torremolinos fantástico" awards, etc.)


13. No special mentions (for feature or short films) will receive any economic amount, only a diploma.

14. Prize payments will be made solely by bank transfer, and trophies and diplomas will be sent through the company CORREOS SPAIN (and not using companies). All this will take place between march and july 2019, inclusive.

15. If the quality of the final copy of the film generates faults when it is being screened during the festival (such as desynchronisation, pixelation, poor audio or video quality, low resolution, low sound, the physical medium [i.e. disc, pendrive, hard drive, etc.] or format is not recognised, jerking, stopping, pausing, jumping or any other faults of this type), liability will be entirely assumed by the person that registers the film and sends the final copy, and not by the organisers.

16. The festival will apply an entry charge per person and film. All revenue from film tickets sold will be destined for use by the Torremolinos Fantastic Film Festival, and the person that registers the film/the company/ the private individual responsible for distribution/exhibition will receive nothing.

17. Sleeves, teasers/trailers and images may be freely exhibited on our website, social networks and during the event, both at this and any future sessions and at any other events organised by or involving Torremolinos Fantastic Film Festival.

18. Torremolinos Fantastic Film Festival will have the right to make public use of teasers/trailers or fragments of the films registered for the festival during this event and in future years for the purpose of promoting the event.

19. The Festival website and its different sections may include adverts of the type “Google AdWords” and “Yahoo! Search Marketing”, banners and similar advertising to raise revenue for the organisation.

20. The owners of all works selected are required to sign a document transferring exhibition rights during the festival, which will be sent by email and will be returned signed between 20th september and 10th october 2018. Failure to do this will lead to their films being removed from the selection.


21. Selected and unselected works (if there is no distributor in Spain) may be exhibited at other film screenings organised or promoted by Asociación cultural Cinefans or Torremolinos Fantastic Film Festival, without the requirement to give prior notice to the persons that register/that are liable for the film being shown at these events and, if such screenings take place, points 3, 4, 5, 16, 18, 19, 20 and 22 herein will always remain in force and be applicable.

22. Registering or sending a film to the festival implies unconditional acceptance of these rules and regulations. Ignorance or failures to read or understand them are not reasons for exemption from complying with them.
