The eighth edition of the Ruta Maya Mexico International Film Festival will be held from November 1 to 4, 2022, in person in the city of Campeche, Mexico. Our motto is "Back to the Roots", that is, "Back to the Origins" that allows us to achieve new knowledge about the territory and its traditions, the city, its inhabitants, management and social innovation. This initiative, understood as the possibility of empowering ourselves as citizens from our origins.

OBJECTIVE:
Promote the culture, art and traditions of the Mayan Route through an international film festival in the State of Campeche, which seeks to be a meeting place between the audiovisual sector and the community, generating tourism, economic recovery and for this edition return to the origins.

BACKGROUND:
Since 2014, the festival began as the CAMPECHE FILM FESTIVAL, with a reception of 452 short films from around the world for its first edition and ending with more than 800 for the fifth. In 2018 the festival became what is now known as the RUTA MAYA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL in which very marked lines of action are established for the support not only of the MAYA TRAIN, but also as a strategy for attracting regional tourism and local support. .

CATEGORIES IN COMPETITION:

THE LEGACY: With the aim of promoting, supporting and disseminating independent national film projects and promoting the rescue of the traditions and cultures of Mexico, the festival invites the showing of projects related to issues of indigenous communities, traditions, customs, idiosyncrasies, habits , strengthening of identity, cultures in other languages, heritage, expressions in situations of disappearance and origins that make us unique. For this category are accepted:

Fiction, animation and documentary short films, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes including credits.
Free roll format

National works are accepted.

The prize for Best Short Legacy and certificate will be awarded

INTERNATIONAL FICTION SHORT FILM: In this category, free-themed short films are sought, which express the dynamics of today's world.

Fiction short films, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes including credits.

Free shooting format and theme
The prize for Best Fiction Short and certificate will be awarded

DOCUMENTARY SHORT FILM: In this category, free-themed short films are sought, which express the dynamics of today's world.

SELECTION WITHOUT HORIZONS (FEATURE FILMS): In this category, national and international fiction feature films are sought. For this category, the following are accepted:

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Works produced from the year 2021 will be considered for all categories

All the works, without exception, may be presented in their original language with Spanish subtitles if they are spoken in another language.

Producers, directors, distributors, production companies, who have the rights to the work, rights holders or their respective consent or authorization by the team will participate. In this sense, the Festival is not responsible for third-party claims.

The official selection will be informed by email.

The participants authorize the organization to use excerpts of the works for dissemination in any printed or digital media, in order to promote the Festival, as well as the official selection. The photographs of the works and the directors will also be used for national and international media.

During the festival there will be talks with the directors or producers, in case of not being able to attend, it can be delegated to another person participating in the project.
The same work cannot participate in several categories.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
All works must be registered through the Festhome platform. It is not necessary to register the work on all platforms, just choose one of the options.

The poster or promotional image of the work must be uploaded.

In the case of being an official selection, a file must be sent for download with a .MOV or .MP4 extension with full HD resolution (1080p) for projection during the festival.
