The Chefchaouen International Environmental Film Festival is a film festival dedicated to film lovers and those concerned about the environment in Morocco and abroad, it is an annual event in the superb blue pearl of northern Morocco, the tourist and ecological city of Chefchaouen.

The 16th Edition of the Chefchaouen International Environmental Film Festival will be held from June 17 to 20, 2026on the occasion of World Environment Day.

The 15th Edition of the Chefchaouen International Environmental Film Festival will be held from June 16 to 19, 2027 on the occasion of World Environment Day.

A varied program, and a jury composed of internationally and nationally renowned film and environmental professionals will be responsible for designating the winners of the planned awards.

Cash Prizes: 1,500$

A jury composed of nationally and internationally renowned film professionals will select the winners in the different categories.

Professional Films:
Two awards will be presented:
Best Documentary (Feature-Length) Award
Best Environmental Short Film Award

Amateur Environmental Short Films:
One award will be presented to the best film:
Best Environmental Short Film Award

Special Mentions may also be awarded to films that particularly impress the jury.

Article 1: Definition

The Chefchaouen International Environmental Film Festival is a festival open to environmental films made by professional or amateur filmmakers (Moroccan and foreign), regardless of their age (>16 years) or experience.

* The 16th edition of the Chefchaouen International Environmental Film Festival (FIFE) will be held from June 16 to 19, 2027.

* The main theme of the festival is **“Environment and Climate Change.”**


Article 2: Objectives

The 16th edition of the 2027 Chefchaouen International Environmental Film Festival (FIFE) is a cultural event that provides national and international filmmakers with an opportunity to present their audiovisual productions to the public.

This international event promotes sharing and exchange between filmmakers, cinema professionals, and, above all, audiences and people interested in environmental issues.


Article 3: Eligibility and Film Categories

The Chefchaouen International Environmental Film Festival accepts films that have a strong connection with environmental issues.

#Professional Films

* Theme and genre: Films dealing with the themes of environment and climate change, particularly documentaries, may be submitted for selection.

* duration:** Films are divided into two categories:

* Short films: up to 20 minutes
* Feature-length films: 45 minutes or longer

* A filmmaker may submit as many films as they wish; however, in the event of selection, the pre-selection committee may select only one film.

#Amateur Films

* Theme and genre: Theme: environment and climate change; genres: documentary, fiction, and animation.

* Maximum duration: 20 minutes, including credits.

* A filmmaker may submit as many films as they wish; however, in the event of selection, the pre-selection committee may select only one film.

#School Films — Morocco Only

* Theme and genre: Theme: environment and climate change; genres: documentary, fiction, and animation.

* Maximum duration: 15 minutes, including credits.

Formats: AVI, MOV, MP4, MPEG, WMV, etc.

Submission media: Digital version (link sent via the internet), DVD, Blu-ray, USB flash drive, or hard drive.

NB: Films submitted via an internet link must be of good quality (12K, 8K, 4K, HD, or FHD).


Article 4: Registration

Registration for the festival may be completed online through film submission platforms (Festhome) or by email to the festival:

* Registration fees are non-refundable.

* The registration form must be completed and signed in the event of selection. It can be downloaded from the Festival website: http://www.festival.assated.com

Film submissions must be completed before May 14, 2027.

NB: All film transportation costs and the costs of submitting all documents to the festival office shall be borne by the participant.


Article 5: Pre-Selection

All films submitted and received within the deadlines specified in Article 4 will undergo an initial selection process.

The ATED Association will appoint a pre-selection committee to select the films that will participate in the official competition in the Professional, Amateur, and School Club categories.

The Festival will announce the pre-selection results on its official website: [www.festival.assated.com](http://www.festival.assated.com), and will notify selected participants directly by email.

Applicants who have not received a selection email by the notification deadline shall consider that their films have not been selected for the official competition.


Article 6: Jury

A Jury will be appointed by the Association and will comprise specialists in documentary filmmaking and environmental issues for the three competitions.


Article 7: awards

#Professional Films

* Grand Prize: Best Documentary
* Best Environmental Short Film Award

#Amateur Films

* Best Environmental Short Film Award ( School Competition — Morocco)

An award will be presented to the best film and will be called the “Akchour Award for Best School Film.”

All awards will be presented during the closing ceremony on June 19, 2027.


Article 8: Copyright

The producer or director of the film undertakes to hold all music, cinematographic, and textual rights to the works included in the film.

Failing this, the Association shall not be held liable.


Article 9: Attendance of Filmmakers

* The presence of the directors of selected films is mandatory throughout the duration of the festival. If the director is unable to attend, they may appoint a representative to attend the festival on their behalf.

* If a film wins one of the festival awards and no representative of the film is present at the festival, the director will receive only the award certificate (scanned and sent by email) and the trophy, provided that the embassy of the winner's country undertakes to arrange and cover the shipment of the trophy by its own means.

* The Festival does not pay taxes or fees on behalf of participants.

* The Festival does not cover airfare for selected participants.

* The festival's organizing association (ATED) will cover **accommodation and meals only** for filmmakers whose films are in competition during the four days of the festival, for those attending in person, whether they are from Morocco or abroad.

# Article 10: Accreditation

Those wishing to participate in this edition (festival directors, media representatives, film critics, etc.) are invited to request accreditation by completing the relevant form on the Festival website.

Accredited persons will not be provided with accommodation, meals, or other financial support by the Festival.


Article 11: Acceptance and Participation

Participation in the Festival implies acceptance of these regulations.

* Participation in the Festival and acceptance of these regulations imply authorization for the Festival to screen the selected film and to broadcast excerpts from the submitted film on television channels and on the internet.

* Copies of films sent by post shall become the property of the **Association Talassemtane pour l'Environnement et le Développement (ATED)** and shall be used solely for non-profit cultural activities.



  Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
