La Raíz film festival was born with the intention of giving visibility to small works in short film format and give the opportunity to their creators to project their stories.

- Awards

All nominated finalists will receive an accreditation diploma as La Raíz will finance 20% of their next short films (subtracting subsidies).

After the screening of all the films, each of the winning short films will be awarded with a statuette created for the occasion:

- La Raíz Award - the festival statuette and The Grand Prize for full production + 100% financing for the winner's next short film with a minimum of 15,000,000 euros.

- Audience Award for Best Short Film - Statuette and Diploma.

- Jury Award for Best Actor - Statuette and diploma

- Jury Award for Best Actress - Statuette and Diploma

1. Participation

- All producers and directors of international short films are eligible to participate, with no age limit.

- Short films of any production format can participate.

- The festival will be held on January 12-13-14, 2025.


2. Conditions

- Each participant may submit a maximum of one work, and must have been produced after January 1, 2023.

- The duration cannot be longer than 15 minutes.

- Works that do not technically guarantee a correct projection will be rejected.

3. Registration

- The registration period will be from September 16, 2024 to November 24, 2024. The inscription must be done in the following way:

4. Selection

- From all the films received, a total of 15 works will be chosen to be part of the official selection. In the final phase, 5 works will be selected.

- The result of the selection will be made public on December 21, 2024.

- The selected films must be sent. In the following format:

The selected films will be screened in public sessions at TEATRO SOJO LAB, at the times and dates that appear in the official program of the festival or, where appropriate, as provided by the organization of the festival.


5. Jury

The Official Jury, composed of professionals of recognized trajectory in the field of culture, will be in charge of awarding the prizes.

The Jury may declare void, due to lack of quality or absence of works presented, the categories it deems appropriate or award prizes ex aequo, and its decisions shall be final.

The prizes will be awarded on the day of the Gala awards Ceremony in the city of Madrid, in TETRO SOJO LAB, on January 14, 2025.

The organization appreciates the presence of the representatives of each short film.

The audience present during the screenings will award the Audience Award to the best short film.


6. Acceptance of the rules

Registration implies acceptance of these rules and the decisions of the organization, selection committee and jury of the festival. Any question not

- Copies of non-selected films will become part of the festival's audiovisual archive, and may be used, with prior notice to the producer, for exhibition at parallel events.

- If the festival is delayed or cancelled for reasons beyond the organizers' control, participants will not be entitled to any compensation,
but their work will remain pending to compete in the same, as soon as normality is restored. Participation in this Festival implies the acceptance of these rules.
