COMPETITION AMERICANA
REGARD is launching a brand new parallel competition exclusively dedicated to first and second films from filmmakers based in Canada, United States and Latin America. This program is a great opportunity for emerging talents to be noticed by the film industry (programmers, sales agent, producers, distributors, etc.) in touch each year around the Festival and its Short Film Market. First independent short, graduation short, small or big budget productions, whatever the production context, we are looking Americas next generation of creators.

ADVANTAGES
All selected films will be eligible for a $ 1 000 CAD GRANT ;
All submitted films will be available for screening in our videolibrary ;
If selected, the filmmaker will have free accomodation to be attending to the Festival (transportation not included).

SUBMISSIONS FEE
A $20 US (or equivalent in $ CAD) non-refundable submission fee is applicable up to end of the call for entries. Submissions will be considered complete once all fees have been paid and the form completed, including a link to the screener. No physical screeners will be returned.

FESTIVAL REGARD
Our 24th edition will take place from March 11th to March 15th 2020.

REGARD is the largest short film festival in North America. Every year, hundreds of filmmakers and distributors from all around the globe come to Saguenay, Canada to see the best shorts of the year. REGARD is also an entryway for the OSCARS® and was recently dubbed "One of the coolest 25 festivals in the world" by the MovieMaker magazine.

Rules

Only first and second films from filmmakers based in Canada, United States and Latin America will be considered ;
Only screening links available with french and/or subtitles dialogues or subtitles will be considered ;
Only shorts films of 20 minutes and less will be considered ;
Priority to short films that didn’t have a Canadian Premiere.

This competition was created to target and give a valuable place to new talents coming from the three Americas.

Selection criteria:

- Only first and second films are considered for this competition.

- Films made as part of graduation projects are accepted.

- Only films produced after January 1, 2019 are accepted.

- All genres are eligible (live action, documentary, animation, experimental ...)

- Only resident filmmakers in English Canada, the USA and Latin America are eligible.

- Films of all languages are accepted, they at least, need to be provided with subtitled in English or French.

- Priority to short films that didn’t have a Canadian Premiere.

The selected films undertake to provide the broadcast copies.

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
