Filmambiente | International Environment Films Festival (13)

Festival start: 22 August 2024      Festival end: 28 August 2024

In 2024 the festival will take place in Rio de Janeiro and Niterói, and submissions are open for short and feature films on environmental issues and sustainability.

The festival shows annually the best recent films and videos on environmental issues, to create awareness, provoke debate and to widen knowledge and conscience on the need of urgent changes in the behavior of people, governments and companies, in order to preserve the planet. All screenings are free of charge and some films might be screened online, with all security granted and geo-blocked, if necessary.

The jury of the 2024 Filmambiente will select the best feature, editing and director of a film, best short film and director and can give up to two special awards. There will also be the People’s choice award for feature length and short films.. All the awarded films will receive the a trophy. The festival may also reward the films with monetary prizes (to be decided yearly)

Requirements:

Feature films:

1. Completed in the last two years (2022 on) , minimum duration of 60 min;

2. Not shown at festivals in Brazil or released theatrically, on television, home video or internet in Brazil;

3. Have a digital screening copy in high definition (1920X1080);

4. Not available on the Internet.
OBS: films completed and publicly exhibited in Brazil before that can apply for noncompetitive sections.

Short films:

1. Completed in the last two years (2022 on), maximum duration of 25 min;

2. Not shown at festivals in Brazil or released theatrically, on television, home video or internet in Brazil;

3. Have a digital screening copy high definition (1920X1080);

4. Not available on the Internet.
OBS: films with different lengths or completed and publicly exhibited in Brazil before that can apply for noncompetitive sections.

2. The film cannot be withdrawn from the festival after selection.
