Habitar el cine, Caracas International Contemporary film festival is an annual event that seeks to connect the different audiences in the country with the best national and international contemporary films.
The festival celebrates and promotes the diversity of cinematography creation, committed to extensive programme, activities, special events, meetings and discussion groups that mark the bridge between the work, author and audience.
This event is not a competitive meeting, instead, it's conceived to see, enjoy and delve into the cinema in a healthy way, far away from the attractive market and closer to findings and the avant-garde.
Habitar el Cine is not a competitive festival.
Habitar el cine - Caracas International Contemporary fiIm Festival takes place every year in the city of Caracas, Venezuela.
Rules & Terms
1. Generals Conditions
1.1. Eligibility
The summitions are open to venezuelan and international feature films, medium length films, animation and experimental and fiction short films, completely on January, 2022.
1.2 First release
Exclusive in Venezuela for national films.
2. awards
2.1. Philosophy
Habitar el Cine is not a festival or competitive exhibition where the best films are awarded. Instead, Habitar el Cine is dedicated to exhibit the selected films to local audiences in different sites of Caracas. Also, it opens a place for the author to express himself around the film, where the creative processes are the most important thing.
2.2 Cinephilia Award
In our third edition, the festival organization has decided to include a representative award called: Cinephilia Award, which is awarded by the audience of Habitar el Cine 2025.
3. Materials for the selections process:
3.1. Requirements
Completed registration form on the submissions platform and a movie link for viewing on Vimeo or Youtube.
The films must be subtitled in english if your native language is not spanish.
If selected, your film must be subtitled in english, following the .SRT Format.
4. Selected Films
4.1. Program and Catalogue
Habitar el Cine required an inscription, properly completed form, for each film and the following requirements: film synopsis, director's biography and filmography, 4 frames/stills and all credits.
All information required must be sent as soon as possible, once invitation is accepted to participate in the cinema exhibition and before the limit date confirmed by Habitar el Cine.
4.2. Summary or extract with promotional purposes
Habitar el Cine could be used fragments of national and international films, with a maximum duration of 3 minutes for promotional purposes. (The short film extracts used in a promotional manner doesn't exceed the 10% of their maximum duration).
If the film producer doesn’t send the required extracts films, Habitar el Cine, will use the fragments of the film for promotional purposes itself during the Festival.
4.3. Projection schedule
The film schedule and the schedule/time screening are decided by the organization of Habitar el Cine.
4.4. Projection formats
.MOV or DCP.
4.5. language and subtitles, in case of being selected
The selected films will be screened in its original language version. If the film isn’t in spanish audio, it will be required in english .STR format.
5. Acceptance of the terms and conditions
5.1. The participation in the cinema exhibition implies the confirmation of the bases of the call. Against possible failures outside the rules, the Habitar el Cine's organizers will be analyzed and resolve any hassles.
