Participatory Video
Participatory video is understood as those productions made entirely by communities without —or very little— technical and specialized support from external actors during the production. They can either be done in an empirical way or be the result of a prior training process. In any case, what is important is that community members are those who create the narratives, make use of the equipment and bring about horizontal communication in and beyond the community that contributes to social change.
In this category, the focus is on projects arising from the creation, training and audiovisual learning of the community with the tools and media available.
National/international Participatory Videos: Fiction, documentary, animation or experimental short films of any origin, completed after 1 January 2017. The maximum length of the participatory videos must be thirty (30) minutes, including credits. Only ten (10) projects will be shortlisted.
The theme is free and it is expected that the process of creation/production comply with the guidelines provided above.
The film must be presented in its original language. Subtitles in Spanish are required only if the original language is different from Spanish.
