The Icarus Film Festival has been a key piece in the creation of a Central American audiovisual movement, where the cultural integration of the region becomes a reality. Its execution requires an Organizing Committee with representation in each Central American country, in the Caribbean and in the United States, in charge of the realization of the National Icarus Festivals and the Icarus Central American Cinema Samples.
It is a project created and produced by Casa Comal, Art and Culture that is carried out in all mass media. It has cinemas, a TV program, a radio program and a newspaper.
The nominees and winners of the last edition of the International Icarus, constitute the main material that is projected in the national Icarus festivals. Six festivals are held in each country from Guatemala to Panama, between August and September of each year. Six Icarus Central American Film Samples are also held in Havana, Cuba and San Juan, Puerto Rico, New York and Miami in the United States, Buenos Aires and Vienna.
In addition to the statuette that recognizes the best audiovisual work in each category, technical-artistic recognition is given to Central Americans:

Best screenplay
Best Art Direction
Best Production
Best Sound
Best Editing
Best Direction
Best Female Performance
Best Male Performance
-The registration period will be from April 20 to July 20, 2017, exclusively through https://festhome.com
-Participates long and short films of fiction, documentary, animation and experimental realized during the period 2016 - 2017.
-Each of the Central American countries will select the works that will represent them in the International competition in November in Guatemala during the celebration of the national Icarus Festival between July and September.
-On October 20, 2017 will be available the list of the Official Selection of the XX Icarus Festival at www.festivalicaro.com. The decision of the jury is final. The Organizing Committee of the Icaro Festival does not interfere in the decision of the juries.
-The selected short films should send a digital file in high quality to trafico@festivalicaro.com with subtitles in English and Spanish.
-The feature films selected must send 2 verified Bluray to Casa Comal Arte y Cultura, 15 Calle Avenida ElenaTeatro de Bellas Artes, Guatemala, 01000, with the caption "non-commercial, cultural material".
-For works in Spanish must have subtitles in English, for works in other languages must have subtitles in Spanish and English.
-In no case will be paid the exhibition rights of a work
Nominees and winners (with the exception of feature films) from both the Central American section and the international section will be part of the National Icarus Festivals in Central America and the International Traveling Exhibition in the countries where it takes place. Registration to the Icaro Festival means the assignment of the non-commercial exhibition license for these windows.
The feature films may be part of the Icarus National Festivals and the Icarus International Festival Traveling Exhibition if they so declare in writing to the Organizing Committee of the Icarus International Film Festival in Central America.
The jury of the XX Icarus Festival will be composed of internationally renowned filmmakers.
The Organizing Committee reserves the right to withdraw from competition during any stage of the process works that, with intent, omission or error, have provided incorrect information in the registration of their work or do not meet the technical requirements necessary for its projection and dissemination.
