The festival has been held for more than twenty years in the Russian Far East.
Amur Autumn is one of the region's major cultural events.
The festival includes two film competitions and one theatre competition.

Short Narrative Competition
Whenever possible, filmmakers are invited to attend the festival and present their films in person. The festival covers most of the participants' travel expenses.
Each competition is judged by an international professional jury.
Screenings take place in a cinema, where the jury watches the films together with the audience.
To be eligible for participation, films must have Russian Premiere status.
The festival's main award is the Amur Crane.
The Grand Prix in both film competitions also includes a cash prize.
Each year, the festival receives more than 1,000 submissions.
In accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, films with LGBTQ-related themes cannot be screened at the festival.
In 2024, the Indian film The Unyielding Girl won the festival's top prize. Other award-winning films came from Russia, Chile, China, Turkey, France, Kazakhstan, Iran, and Switzerland.
In 2025, the Chinese film Strangers We Do Not Know won the award for Best Feature Film. Other prize-winning films came from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, and South Korea.
The 2025 competition programmes featured 37 films from 21 countries.
Cash Prizes: 3,500€

Diplomas and special mentions from the jury.
Short film competition:

The festival also awards public prizes (organizing committee prize, special prizes, press and critics prize).
The submitted films must not have had any public screenings or online releases prior to the festival.
The festival's Grand Prix awards include the following cash prizes:
Valery Priyomykhov Grand Prix (Feature Film Competition): 300,000 Russian rubles (approximately USD 3,500).
Grand Prix (Short Film Competition): 100,000 Russian rubles (approximately USD 1,000).
According to the festival regulations, eligible films must have been completed in 2025 or 2026.
Running time requirements are as follows:
Short films: up to 30 minutes.
Feature films: 60 minutes or longer.
If selected, the film's screening at the festival must constitute its Russian premiere.
