Kinam, Festival Internacional de Cine Diferente surge en México en el año del 2020 de manera independiente con la intención de exhibir y proyectar nuevas narrativas del cine contemporáneo nacional e internacional.

​Nuestra intención principal es mostrar películas y trabajos audiovisuales que rompan los esquemas de la narrativa tradicional a través de la innovación estética y discursiva. Factores que sin duda logran hacernos imaginar un campo expandido en el cine para encontrar una expresión auténtica y profunda impregnada de creatividad.

​Kinam es una palabra Náhuatl que se estructura a partir de la raíz Kin, la cual significa poder y a su vez forma los términos Kinatia y Kinamiktli los cuales hacen alusión a los conceptos, encuadrado y armonizado. La forma abreviada Kinam daba nombre a los kiname toltecas quienes poseían un enorme sentido espiritual.

​De esta manera Kinam, Festival Internacional de Cine Diferente evoca la fuerza trascendental de la imagen en movimiento para descubrir formas, ritmos, lenguajes, texturas y aproximaciones a la realidad desde el ángulo potente de la imaginación.
​Creemos que los géneros cinematográficos son parte de un todo, por lo cual consideramos que nuestra categoría es híbrida y ante todo un territorio abierto para que todos los realizadores puedan mostrar sus creaciones siempre y cuando confronten las convenciones, así como las narrativas tradicionales con un alto grado de creatividad.

Nuestro festival convoca a cineastas, artistas audiovisuales, estudiantes y público en general a presentar cortos, medios y largometrajes que propongan narrativas innovadoras a través de técnicas mixtas e híbridas y una inmensa libertad creativa que se aleje de las convenciones y lenguajes tradicionales.

Ante la situación de COVID 19 nuestro festival se apegará a las normas sanitarias en México, por lo que nuestras exhibiciones podrán ser virtuales o presenciales dependiendo del contexto en el que nos encontremos.

-Todas las películas seleccionadas serán exhibidas en diversos espacios culturales de la Ciudad de México (en caso de que haya una emergencia sanitaria por COVID 19, las exhibiciones se realizarán de manera virtual)

- Las películas que formen parte de la selección se les otorgará el certificado oficial y laurel de la segunda edición de Kinam Festival.

1.- Short films completed as of January 1, 2018 may participate.

The call is open to all audiences, both nationally and international.

2.- The subject is free.

3.- Short films may belong to any of the following categories:
Fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, video performance, found footage, video essay, ethnographic cinema, indigenous cinema, queer cinema.

4.- The works must have a minimum duration of 1 minute, maximum 39/120 minutes
(short, medium and feature film).

5.- The films may be made with any type of camera or digital technology.

6.- The films must be authored by the participating artist or filmmaker.

7.- The selected foreign films must have subtitles in Spanish for their final screening.

8.- Registration will be made exclusively through the Festhome platform.

9.- The selected authors must send their film in a download link
Through platforms such as: Dropbox, We transfer, Vimeo, Drive or similar. The format must be MP4, H264 codec.

10.- The registration deadline is 02/15/2022. Registrations made after
of this date will not be taken into account.

11.- The official selection will be announced through the festival's website and social media from 03/1/2022.

12.- The Jury's decision will be final.

13.- The selected works will be screened (virtual or face-to-face depending on the context due to COVID 19 in Mexico)
From March 15 to 30, 2022.

14.- Contestants are responsible for the rights of the submitted works.

15.- The projection times will be announced in the official program of the Festival, as well
as in the social networks of the same.

16.- The Festival may use fragments of the selected films
for dissemination of the event in the media, including the Internet.

17.- The organization of the Festival will not cover in any case the coverage of tickets,
Travel expenses or accommodation for the authors of the selected shorts.

18.- The Festival is non-competitive, therefore it will not pay screenings to the
selected artists.

19.- Music videos or advertising videos will not be accepted.

20.- The festival will adhere to Mexican sanitary regulations so that the exhibitions may be virtual or in person according to the context in which we find ourselves in March 2022.

21.- Once a film has been registered with KINAM, no refunds can be made.

20.- Sending a film to KINAM, Different International Film Festival implies acceptance of these rules.
