Leicester Film Festival annual celebration of cinema from around the world set in the heart of the UK Midlands. Leicester Film Festival is open to all genres and formats. The Festival takes place at Firebug Venue in Leicester. The festival includes live screenings, Q&A with filmmakers and Awards presentation for category winners.

Officially selected films receive festival laurels. Official selections in each category are screened at the live festival. Winners in each category receive an official Leicester Film Festival award certificate and trophy.


The award categories are:

Best Short ( under 60 mins )

Best International Short ( under 60 mins )

Best Super Short ( 3 mins and under )

Best International Super Short ( 3 mins and under )

Best Trailer

Best International Trailer

Best Music Video

All films and screenplays must be completed upon submission. No works in progress please.

Short films as well as feature films of any genre and format up to 60 minutes are accepted.

All films must have been made in or after 2020 and have English subtitles ( Unless English is the main language spoken).

International films not in English MUST be subtitled or dubbed in English.


Rights

By submitting your film to our festival you agree that your piece of work (full film or trailer) can be uploaded/embed on our website. The filmmaker/institution that is submitting the film must own the rights to do so and is responsible for the content they are providing. By submitting, the filmmaker allows Leicester City Film Festival to create a page for their film without infringing copyright of any kind of form. Any violations of that agreement will result in immediate disqualification from the festival.

After the submission is complete and the film is accepted, we will upload/embed your trailer on our Screening Room webpage.


Notification

Submissions close 1 month before the festival screening date(s) and all officially selected films will be announced on our website and social media pages. All of those selected will be notified through Festhome.

Winners, nominees and unsuccessful films can be deleted from the website after the festival ends as long as the submitter decides to do so.


Judging decisions are final.

Submissions that are found to have violated any of the Eligibility Requirements listed above may be disqualified at any time by Leicester Film Festival.
